Helping me price our Black Ed Roomster - possibly selling

Featured Replies

My wife's roomster is a Nov '64 plate black edition with 1,400 miles.

Usual good 'black edition' spec but with retrofitted OEM bluetooth. Perfect condition.

I'll not bore you with the reasons but we are considering selling it for various family based reasons

What would you guys advise to be a realistic and achievable price to ask for a stress free sale?

If your friendly with your local dealer try them they screw you down on price a bit but its quick

Couple on auto trader at the minute at £10400 a lot depends on how quickly and stress free you need to be

Good luck

I'm with Malcster about selling to a dealer or one of these companies that buy your car, you'll take a hit but should be quick and easy. I've always found selling anything privately is a pain and often not worth the stress.

Sorry can't help with price though, wish I had some cash as I'd love another Roomster for my mrs.

Best of luck

Try " We buy any car "  You might be Surprised.

We sold a XC70 ( 07 plate ) to them and did some research on value before we sold it, we were suprised what they offered but it was a good offer

Money in the Bank within 2 days

+1 for selling to a dealer or WBAC.

I gave up selling privately a long time ago.  I am happy to take a small hit on price in exchange for a quick, easy, stress-free sale.

Also the sad fact is that any of your possessions that you want to sell are always worth more to you than anyone else or should that be what others are willing to pay.

Not sure of the price for your Black Edition, but WBAC valued my 2yr old 86 tsi SE special edition at £6500 whilst the nearby dealer would only give me £5500 in px against a MKIII fabia estate with no discount other than the £500 deposit contribution.

Just as well it was a VIP event at the dealership! I felt I couldn't justify paying around £10,000 for the priveledge of having no CD player...........so the Roomie stays.

List price is somewhere around £8000 trade which realistically is all any dealer will offer.

This would be an auction estimated value. Most would be looking at a £1.5k markup value.

Retail/Forecourt price of around £9500 to £10000. Skoda main dealers would prob be slightly higher.

I paid only a little more for mine 7 months ago new!

That includes the likes of we buy any car, although they will offer you a price then try and screw you down once the car is presented to them.

If you can get a deal with a local trader that would be the least hassle and quickest sale.

Roomster isn't a particularly desirable car as I'm sure you're aware, and the black edition is an 'acquired taste' ontop of a bit of an odd ball.

Thank you all for the input on price. We would have been ok with £9ish but.......

Having reviewed things though we are keeping roomy! The children love it, especially with the glass roof.

Ive mentioned in the past that one of our boys can't walk and uses a wheelchair and getting him in and out of the rear seat is a breeze and his chair fits in nicely.

We bought it new and only paid £10500 so the way we see it is that after say 3 years its still going to be worth around £6k so thats not a lot to lose. Blimey before the boys I've had cars that have lost more than that the moment I have bought it.

So roomy is staying!

Another thing, the engine is loosening up nicely now and it really does have a surprising turn of speed for the engine capacity. Theres no way that is making just 105 hp - it's got to be more than that.

Just to help convince you that you've made the right decision:

When I bought my 17-months-old SE earlier this year, My dealer gave £5,700 part-exchange on my five-year-old Scout.

I struggle to find another car (of any make) that does everything as well as the Roomster.

Only the Yeti comes close, for which I would need to find an additional £10k.
