Chris

Mine achieved 130mph when the engine was still fairly new, I think the book top speed is 128mph...

Easily hits that 'standard' - on the clocks at least, dunno how far out it was real ;)

OK, added my review too!

Its below incase it never gets published!

The Fabia vRS is an absolute gem of a car.

The bad bits - the diesel engine takes some time to warm up in the colder weather. This is where the heated seats really come into their own! The limited colour choice (red, yellow, silver or black) is a little disappointing, and if you want any optional extras, expect to wait about 12weeks for a factory order.

The good bits - the really supportive bucket seats and forgiving suspension leave you feeling refreshingly comfortable after even the longest journeys. The car feels like a baby-executive with its effortless power, especially at low revs, wonderful refinement at motorway speeds, spacious cabin with quality materials, and great with the user-friendly (optional)cruise control. The car feels so much bigger than it actually is due to the really solid built quality.

Then it turns into a really fun and quick point-to-point performance car for A and B road blasting, with its mosterous torque making overtaking a breeze. The perfomance is really deceptive, but the needle on the speedo rises quickly enough to give hot hatches like the Civic Type-R something to worry about. The supple suspension and wide tyres inspire great confidence, with the ASR traction control kicking in occasionally to keep things in step. The slick 6 speed gearbox adds to the driving enjoyment.

The styling is not overtly sporty, but nice and subtle. Inside there is black headlining, vRS badging on the pale grey seats, stainless steel edged dials, silver gear **** and vRS sill covers. Outside there are lovely chunky 16" alloy wheels that show nicely the green calipers. The big "chin" front bumper and concealed twin pipe exaust tease of the performance of the car.

Skodas "VW derived" reputation for reliability, quality (if a little pricey) servicing, and top notch build quality make ownership a guaranteed pleasure.

The best bit comes with the cost to buy and run - 55mpg is realistically achievable on any lengthy journey, and 40mpg obtained by even the most demanding driver on a spirited drive. At under
