Amundsen II map update available!

Featured Replies

Last night a map download update appeared on checking the update portal page.
I left it downloading all night as its about 14gb and it was there this morning.
I have unpacked it but not overwritten the Skoda Maps SD card yet until I'm sure of doing a backup and restore safely on the original maps SD card.

I just bought my Yeti on Sept 1 and it has the Amundsen II Infotainment system. Dealer told me I could not have speed cameras and speed camera alerts.

Oh yes you can and I have working just fine.  I got UK Gatsos and Red light etc but I even get a warning showing the places that mobile radar cameras as used.

And all for the sum of just £4.99

I think you should have put the details as per elsewhere that ""It is software from the VW Satnav system and appears to work on Amundsen II systems dated from late July or early August 2015.""

Thanks for this useful link.

Good to see that they are providing updates to the sat nav etc., which is as it should be given the money we spent on the car and the units.

On my previous A6 and current TT you have to buy updates at inflated prices which is why most folks don't bother unless they are business users and it is more important for them to have updated maps.

Pity that there was no mention of this by the dealer or in the handbook (unless I missed it) and that you have to find out via a forum!

Just having another look at the handbook and I had missed it!

Easy to do though.

Wouldn't have thought mine would need any updates, given that it's only a few weeks old, but there is one for the sat nav.

Having said that it was already built so is a few weeks older than when I got it.

I have been quoted £60 to update my Yeti.   yeah right i am going to pay that much.

Is yours an earlier version of the sat nav then?

Amundsen II June 2016 map is now available Here.
It's a 12 gb download and will only work if the folders and files are copied to a genuine Skoda map SD card.

Make a backup of the SD card just in case it needs to be restored.

Skoda card out of car.

copied Skoda card to computer.

downloaded maps update to computer (the maps folder was dated 30 November 2015?)

erased Skoda card data and reformatted.

copied new maps folder to Skoda card.

Skoda card back into car.

Bingo

(well, almost.....the new £120M Bexhill Hastings link road which opened in December 2015 still shows

as open fields.....but we don't need a map for it!....for strangers, no doubt it will show in November when the next update is planned)

No, I didn't copy the backup instead of the download

In-car Version check reads

5L0051236L

0635

ECE 1 2016/17

Still seems strange that a June update uses data from the previous November?

One hour 10 minutes start to finish

It's iften the case that updates take a minimum of 6 months to come through. I do not have the new system, it'll be in the new Yeti but I'd be interested to see if the new update has the M1 junction 10 changes incorporated.i bought the CD update for this year in January and that still has me driving across fields?

Just answered my own question. I looked on the Skoda Mydestinations site and it shows the new M1 junction layout so I guess that the map update must be correct.

I have just done my update and put back in car all seems ok except the screen used to show local streets but now it shows local towns

And looks like it's in camouflage mode.

Any ideas why.

You can also zoom in, out and move the map around with your fingers as on a smart-phone.
