insurance is strange

Featured Replies

I used to work in this sector five years back and although things might have changed... Back then I seem to remember typically the comparison site received approx. £30 from the insurer for every policy conversion (sale) and something like a quid for every potential lead (customer details) provided to the insurer.

So obviously the insurer has started to load the comparison site premium to encourage customers to cut out the middle man.

Just got my renewal notice for my coming year insurance for my 1.4 TSi.  £150.58  (E-Sure)

Just out of curiosity I ran the details (identical of course) through Compare the Market.

Same company still the cheapest but quoted £174.

Never mind Go Compare....Go Figure!!!

 I pay around 150 a month lol

True indeed, and someone need to pay for the FREE Meerkat, the FREE Bryan toy, those FREE movies. Guess what, they include the cost of those in the premium quoted and an additional fee for advertising.

For the second Audi I have as a fixer upper (second car) the quote was cheaper direct with Admiral than it was using from Admiral via Confused.com (£300 direct, or £380 via confused.com) for the same cover. That is for an Audi A6 2,4 Auto, zero NCD and 8K PA with SD&P and I don't think a free Bryan toy is worth £80.

I was with hastings, got a renewal quote on my mondeo titanium and was £70 more than the cheapest I could find, called them and they said they couldn't get near that so I cancelled. Just before I went with my best quote I thought I would tap my details into the Hastings site and...... Yep, £2 cheaper than any other quote lol work that one out! Just done a quote for my brand new mk3 vrs tsi which is on order and was pleasantly surprised....£188! Cheaper than the mondeo lol
