Crash, Bang, Wallop

Featured Replies

I have owned my car 1 year today and it seems to have taken a bit of a battering.

25k miles later.

scratch running all the way down the N/S to R/S (T-cut got most of it)

Dent in the passenger front door (Dent Dr on order)

vRS Door sill logo has taken a battering, quite badly scratched.

NSF fog light is being held on by some chicken wire to stop it leaking (not visible)

NSF Arch liner broken

OS Wing mirror scratched quite badly today

Interior/alloys filthy

Rear of the car is as dirty as me :D (in a sexual way of course, I do have a shower everyday ;))

99% of these problems will be fixed by the weekend as i'm having a real go at restoring it's former glory. Is this excessive in 1 years ownership however?

Chris.

Get a pic when you've restored the glory

then we'll be able to say ....

What a picture!

What a photograph!

Rum tiddly-um-pum, pum pum pum ...

Stick it in your family

Album!

I would guess it's normal mate. I've had my car for 5 months now and it's got some meaty scratches. About a month after taking ownership of the car i got sprayed with stone chippings (i hate that cheapskate method of resurfacing) causing damage to the windscreen and a nasty hole to the passenger side fog lamp. It makes you mad!

Oh I forgot the front of my car has been hit by an asteroid belt, and there's no way to get rid of the stone chips without a respray.

I've had mine for 20 months and have the following:

scuff and dent on nsf door where some drunk bloke kicked the car

two dents on rear tailgate

Damage under front bumper

Pebbledashed bonnet

Chipped windscreen

Slight dent drivers door

Not bad for 86k miles really.

Any idea where I can get the black plastic surround to the fog light (NS if that makes any difference). I believe the Felicia uses the same  and how much and would it be a case of removing the bumper to get to it?

Should see my bonnet, pebble dashed to the point of me not caring any more. :D - my car's generally not too bad for 5 years and nearly 70,000 miles. I think next Spring it will be time to spend some money on restoring its lustre a bit

Mine was a year old recently but i'd only done just over 8k and the car is garaged 90pct of the time. After a jetwash and polish car still looks new although I do have a few stone chips on the bonnet too. Very annoying. :thumbdwn:

Pebbledashed bonnet

"More chips than McDonald's"

Yep after 30k and 18 months mine is battle scared too!

scratch down the drivers side caused by tree branch

Stone chips on grill/bonnet/and wings

4 x scratches to bare metal on passenger side wing caused by tin lin on the motorway

dent and chip under drivers side rear door cause by the fuel nozzle falling out of it's holster

Dent & scratchs on hatch cause by 4x2 plank of wood falling on it from 10ft

Misc key marks cause by to55ers

Smashed front fog light (now replaced)

ripped inner arch (now replaced)

Apart from that it's fine :(

Glad to hear it's not just me! Almost 13 months, 19000 miles and:

broken vane in front grille

two deliberate keyed scratches on passenger side doors

scrapes across top of front wing/bottom of windscreen pillar

chip in windscreen

All part and parcel of running a car I guess :(

Mine has a two scratches on the glove box caused by a bikers knee sliders.

Cheeky git laughed at Furby at the Ring & so I offered him a ride. By the third corner he was doing a good impression of blind panic as he looked for somewhere to hold onto. I think it was when we took off on the crest at Flugplatz that his knee took a chunk out of the plastic.

Worth it!

He promised not too laugh at Skodas again.

Bonnet chips all over my nearly 3 year old car...few tiny scratches around...no line scratches thankfully...

But she's still pretty for 3 years in this country.

I've done 15000 miles, and I have

  • pebbledashed bonnet
  • dent in bonnet
  • 2x kerbed alloys
  • horrible fitting (pattern not OEM) front bumper with scuff
  • rear bumper has a nasty scuff and lots of scratches.
  • stone chip on o/s/r door
  • stone chip on roof
  • stone chip on spoiler
  • cracked n/s fog light glass
  • grubby seats

But all will be sorted in the new year after the gritters have finished for the year. Having a new bonnet, front and rear bumpers, colour coded door handles and Golf V colour coded rubbing strips, colour coded front grille and the 3 stone chips repaired!

Then leather

Gonna be an expensive year 2006 - but want to get my car how I want it!

Strewth!!

broken vane in front grille

I believe that was partly my fault for hitting those birds quite quickly and they flew up and hit your car. :o:o

I like a car to be immaculate! So that is a bit excessive (to me) :P

Ive done 7.5k in nearly 6 months without a mark on it, until the other week  Its got a small car park dent on the back door (f*cking idiots who dont give a toss)....Nothing major, but its annoying. So that will be getting sorted soon.
