DPF Removal

Featured Replies

Hello everybody again,

Just having a think while looking at a remapping company's website.

On a diesel, I get that most stage 1 remaps leave the DPF in. But for stage 2, the DPF is removed.

Now maybe hypocritically, if you wanted to keep the DPF installed, is there a way to go past a stage 1 remap?

Just being curious really.

All sounds reasonable, and probably not that common.

I was just curious, mine is a CR engine, but have no plans to modify (yet!).

Hi all. I would love to tune my, new to me, octy 4x4 2.0 tdi cr. I've looked into dpf removal, but its now an MOT failure. I wonder/hope there's a way round this come mot time. First i fear we'll have to wait for the outcome of the vw group diesel cheat test malarky. Im now holding my breath....

I have a PD170 with an 'upgraded' DPF, its not straight through but the empty box sounds like the turbo is on its way out all the time. I wish I had a pipe that went straight through the box.

DPF  removal is only an MOT failure if there isn't one. It's only a visual check to make sure one is fitted, doesn't say there has to be anything in it

correct, just a visual check. Some places will gut them for you though. Does it make much of a real difference though?

Could invalidate your insurance (and insurance companies will do anything to wriggle out of a payment) should an accident investigator find out.

definitely worth waiting. Rewriting the software under the recall would reset the Original values

Or, if you're looking for someone closer to home...

Exactly. According to the department for transport in the uk, owners of the affected cars are not obliged to have there cars repaired/corrected. I will wait and see what people are saying about the changes to there vehicles before i commit to any decisions.

Ha ha hello ap! Thanks for the remap on my previous octy. Went alot better, used less fuel, and never missed a beat. Many thanks.

removed the dpf and blanked off the egr with a re-map on my old mazda 3 .standard hp142 after work done nearly 180hp ish  whilst i had my licence revoked (epilepsy) then after a year and a half not driving and getting back in to car it just felt normal until we test drove our Octavia then found out  it pulled like a train plan was to get Octavia mapped in november once warranty ran out now feels like i am stuck with a under powered car at moment.

HI mate. Would love to hear how you got on with your remap etc. What the difference is like, and the economy.

Sounds great mate! One day I hope to get my common rail 2.0ltr up to around the 180bhp mark. Stock it is 140bhp or there abouts. I'd be nervous come MOT time though....

Had mine remapped here in NL by VAgtune.. Since sailed through the equivalent of the MOT at the local dealers with no problems. Not who you know but what they know.

VAG here have announced a recall beginnning in January. Not compulsive and np mention of any recompense
