VAG DSG gearbox & flappy paddles question.

Featured Replies

After having used a paddle to change gear, is there a set time before the gearbox moves back in to automatic mode or does it stay in flappy mode until 'something else' happens - such as slowing down, sudden acceleration etc?

On my Golf's DSG no matter what happens if you forget to change up or down it eventually ends up changing for you but not sure it it reverts to fully "auto mode", even with the shifter across in sequential mode.

Not sure if that answers your question.

On my Fabia Vrs it changes back into auto after a certain amount of time if you haven't touched the paddles for a bit in D. If I shift it over to manual it doesn't but it will change down gears if you're coming to a stop for example.

Mines been mapped so it stays in the selected gear when in "M", although it might drop down when slowing down I can't remember. Ironically it's currently getting work done on the DSG. As said if in "D" or "S" and I use the paddles it will eventually revert back to what it is in.

You might not want to know this but mine will hit the limiter when in "M" too where it won't in Auto.
