Driving games for PC...

Featured Replies

Well, never really been a gamer, never owned a playstation or anything

However, downloaded the WR2 demo from the Skoda site, and its great!

Just wondered if anyone has any PC driving games they can recommend, and any steering wheels etc that are worthy of a mentions...

Cheers in advance

GT Legends is good  You get to drive GT and touring cars from the 60s and 70s including monsters such as the Ford GT40, BMW CSL and Ford Capri RS :D

There is also GT Racing if you prefer more modern cars

Live for speed is worth a go. Infact i believe the second one is out now. Worth a google as normally has a large demo. Also GTR2 is meant to be good too. Toca Race Driver 2 is cool and Microprose F1 GP 4 is good although quite old now.

For steering wheels you can go wrong with the thrustmaster ones.

I love the Gran Turismo games, are these available for PC?

As far as I know, the Gran Turismo games are, unfortunately, not available for the PC.

GT Legends / Racing are totally unrelated to the Gran Turismo series and can be somewhat hardcore racing simulations (depending on the level of driver aids you choose) - see the following links for more info:

GT Legends

GT Racing

Also Live for Speed, as mentioned previously is a very good simulation but not as graphically impressive, see the following link:

Live for speed

As for steering wheels, I have a Logitech Wingman Formula Force wheel

Need for speed most wanted is out soon... which is ace

also GT legends or GTR .. which are proper sims.. makes GT4 look like an arcade game.

TOCA 3 demo is out now too :)

that all depends.....

if you've got a full copy of the now defunct PS Emulator "BLEEM!" (check!)

a decent specc'd pc (check!)

a powerful 3D card (check!)

original Playstation copy of GT or GT4 (check!)

and a copy of Windows 98 SE. (check)

Put them all together, and it fair urinates over a PS2 running GT4......

agreed, but don't expect HD graphics though.

btw, a nice racing sim at the moment is BMW M3 challenge.

And it is free and gives you the ability to play online.

PM if you want further details

He probably wouldnt have expected HD in 2005 ;)

I'll go and look up that M3 game though, sounds good

 hehe, fair enough.

BTW if you plan on playing the game, let me know. I would very much like to find somebody interested in learning from another. Hosting a password protected game is a breeze so we could even have a Briskoda one for people who want to race clean as opposed to crashing into another)

common folks, you like driving or not.

Download this game and do some serious virtual drifting :-D

Put your money where your heart is. the name is must_go_faster

GRID looks to be a cracking game too on multiple platforms..

Andy

PM'ed

Agreed; Grid looks awesome, but I wonder how much money you need to throw at it before it becomes playable on PC

Oooh, thead from the dead this.

If anyone wants to PM me about the BMW game, feel free :P

PM'ed indeed

For those who are interested how realistic this game can be:

The track is not the standard one, but again that is a matter of downloading a folder and renaming it when you play this game. (explanation: this game was developed by Simbin, the guys behind other v. good titles... :-) )

Ta for the PM ;)

Looking forward to having a bash this evening!

I'll join in too

Had the Ring track on M3 challenge, until my PC crashed, then the game wouldn't work again! I hadn't re-installed it because i have GTR2 (check out the Power & Glory mod for GTL"2ish" action)

I'll redo the M3 game today.

So how do you go about getting the full ring track then?

Try the forums at Race Sim Central, i cant remember exactly, but its not straight forward.

Or as Neo said........

OMG

Serious stuff...

ya! you bet, I mean I was just looking for a new simulator, but when I saw this...

I have started a savings plan for the divorce settlement already:P

(don't forget the majority of users on these servers are under 18 and only looking to ruin your time, so if you really are looking for a best time for your lap, you will need to find the server that profiles itself as racing)

lol just been reading this thread over, do you think I am taking this far too seriously?
