promblem starting felica fun

Featured Replies

Can anyone help, I have a skoda fun pickup T-reg 1.6 petrol.

Having some starting issues, but this doesn't always happen in fact its only happened a few times but is really frustrating.

Okay basically now and then it will just not fire up, it cranks and turns but doesn't start.

Had it plugged into a diagnostic machine today and it's come up with these fault codes.

Injector cylinder 1-n30 open circuit short with ground intermittent, it says this for all the injectors.

Plus an extra one saying throttle position actuator (v60) open circuit?

The wiring from the ECU is fine with no breaks, plus the ecu plug is clean and dry.

Has anyone had this before?

Thanks for any help/advice given.

Clear error codes. They could have been set by disconnecting injector plugs or TB during diagnosis.

Let the engine set new reliable error codes. Meanwhile tell us about any maintenance or lack of it in those areas. Any cracked/collapsed hoses going to TB? Any hissing from vacuum hoses?

Will clear codes tomorrow. Servicing has just been done 2 months ago.

I only purchased it in March, but it has full service history and only just 72, 000 on the clock.

Hopefully clearing the codes and doing another test might bring up more details?

Could it be something from the earth strap???

Intermittent issues are hardest to diagnose. Luckily, Felicia has mostly age related problems. Dirt, corrosion, normal wear. I don't think earth strap is an issue.

Maybe the fuel pump is on its last leg. But you need proof for that.

Wait for a no start event.

  • Listen for buzzing when key on (you hear it best by opening the fuel filler cap)
  • If no buzzing you can try banging on the fuel tank then try starting the engine.
  • Try reseating the fuses and relays then try starting the engine.

If you do the above before having a no start issue, you will never know what is the cause.

Real diagnosis would be to check the fuel pressure when the car doesn't start.
