Resonating speaker & door card

Featured Replies

The speaker in the passenger front door has started resonating with bass frequencies. I read on another thread that this can be due to paper identification tags touching the cone. How easy is it to remove the door panel/card to get a look at the speaker? When I've removed door inner panels from other cars the plastic connectors often break off- does this happen with the Fabia? My car is only 6 weeks old but getting to the dealer is a real hassle for me - so any advice would really help.

There's a guide somewhere on the site the tells you how to get the card(s) off.

IMO use old credit cards or spatullas they sell in Halfords for applying car body filler. Another tip I got yesterday was to use nylon wedges... Look like the types you'd hold domestic doors open with.

You can buy a special multitool tool doing this sort of job from motor accessories shops.

Getting the door card off isn't a problem, it's having to drill the rivitts out that hold the speaker in place.

My OEM speaker vibrated the passenger side door too... Took it out and replaced it with a much better speaker, made sure it was very secure, but still, I have a highly annoying resonance in the door, with or without the door card on. And I'll be buggered if I can be bothered to drill out ALL the rivitts holding the inner metal panel in so I can see what's going on inside my door. Why they started using rivitts instead of screws, I do not know.

I got a carpet fitter's Tack Lifter from Halfrauds. Looks like a screwdriver with a miniature claw hammer on the end instead of the blade. Works a treat on the spring clips on a Fabia, which tend to have a high 'ping' factor, but need some leverage to get them started.
