Amundsen S at Nav

Featured Replies

Having just bought a 65 plate 4x4 SEL estate with most of the trimmings, I was surprised by the poor lay out of the two owners manuals and in particular the non info on input of Post Codes.  It was helpful to read on this forum how to do it providing you were prepared to plod through up to 14 actions as described by one Geoffrey Winterman and others.  What I was even more surprised about, is now I have played around with the Sat Nav, it can be all done using voice.  This may be old hat to some but not to me.

1. Press voice

2. Say destination

3. Say City

4. When asked for street, say "Post Code"

5. You will the be asked for Post Code

6 Give it in 7 figure format.

7. Confirm it

8. You will then be asked whether you wish to start navigation.

Quick and simple .

If this is old hat I apologise, if not hooray.

Much faster in android auto, hold down voice button and say "navigate to...." then say the postcode or address

It would appear that my Samsung GalaxyS2 is not compatible.

A bit confused by "7 figure format"

Most are 6 figures, some only have 5.

ah, yes that would not work, only works with current phones, even the S2's replacement will not work

Most are 6 figures, some only have 5.

Most large cities, and especially London, will have 6 or 7 character Post Codes.

Regarding the 7 digit post code an example is Tesco in Wrexham  ( LL13 8HF )  Many post codes in this area have two letters followed by 2 numbers then the usual single figure plus 2 letters.  The things you learn on the Skoda site!!!

No.

Especially "N" or "W" postcodes, many are only 5 digits.

Will try the voice function and see if it works with less than 7 digits
