Number plate font query

Featured Replies

Not quite sure what the legalities are with this but pulled this site up from browsing threads on here:

http://www.fancyplates.com/

My question is, if I decided to go for a NON standard UK font, is the plate still legal?

Reason being, the site gives a number of various fonts and one in particular looks quite catchy. The spacing is done manually by myself (4,3) so that it looks correct but I'm unsure if I'd be allowed to display it as it's not a recognised font, well that's my take on it. Want to be dead sure before I make a purchase.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Standard font, standard spacing, must display the suppliers name and postcode along with the BS AU number.

£100 fine I think for no legit plates

Too many ANPR cameras on police traffic cars now (although less traffic cars I guess!) My point is if you mispace it'll come up as a misread on ANPR and get flagged up making you more likely to be stopped.
