Hello & Help!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

So ive owned my mk1 octy vrs for a couple months now, and im looking at putting a few quid into her and get the engine kicking out a few more ponies, and also better suspension and brakes etc to go with it.

I have read through a few posts and have an idea of an end product from pics of other cars, but im just pulling my hair out trying to understand this car. I see people have used alot of Leon Cupra R parts?? I know my engine is a AUQ!

Basically, i want to get up to around 280bhp. I know it'll be a stage 2set up atleast, so do i have to use an amftermarket fmic? Or is there one in the vag range that would do the job? Same with most aspects really, id like to use vag parts, just to help the burden on the pocket if possible.

i have read reviews on coilovers and think ill be settling for the vmaxx.

I have decided to start tinkering because ive had the pain P0411 fault code and fpind that my sai pump is dead, so i will be getting it mapped out and while im there i may as well do a proper job

Any help from modders will be appreciated, also any points in the direction of people selling after market parts, starting with a cat-back

cheers,

Batesy.

Apologies, my computer is playing up!!

Well I am no expert but 280bhp is not going to come cheap.

You may be able to use some VAG parts but for the increase your after I would think aftermarket would be the easiest route.

I wait for the experts to correct me.

280 bhp is going to put you in the zone of the likes of Bowders1's vrs on here, he has a build thread on here that may be worth a look in the projects section to give you an idea of what needs to be done.

My son had a very hot tuned SEAT lcr - well over 350 bhp, and that nearly bankrupted him finishing it properly, unfortunately, once you pass 240-250 bhp, it does not come cheap, and over 300bhp, you really should think about budgeting for new con rods.

I see in your profile you say 2008 vrs, is that a second car or is that a mk2, because if it is a mk2 it wont be an AUQ.

Bloody hell, i didnt realise it would cost so much, but i guess its a 100bhp increase! Ive tried to up date that, its my old car which was the tdi cr, but ive recently just bought a 2004 vrs.

So what sprt of horses should i be getting with a fmic, exhaust system amd cai with a decent remap?

I would like more power but without cutting into the reliability!

Cheers for the replies though guys, appreciate it

Depending on the map, between 215 - 235 if you are looking good stage 1 to good stage 2. But to be honest at the lower map levels, it is not the bhp that is important that is released, but the fairly respectable amounts of torque.

Once you look around the 300 bhp levels, to take any meaningful advantage, you need to really look at either a Hybrid turbo setup or bigger turbo.

If you are looking at that sort of horsepower, before you do that there are several handling and brake mods you should consider before you get there by way of roll bars and disc size/pad material, otherwise the scenic trip to the hedge will start to look real easy.............. :giggle: . It will also make smaller hp figures more accessible and usable much earlier safely and enjoyably.

Good luck, would be interested what you think compared to the cr, as a mk2 was where I was looking to go next.

A standard K03S turbo on an AUQ will top out around 240-255bhp with all the right bits nailed to it, which isn't too ridiculous money and can liberate up to 300lbft. After that, it is onto replacing the turbo and flogging the missus/kids on eBay.
