led tail lights

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I really like black Dectanes led tail  lights but cannot find them available for hatch :( can anyone please help me? I saw somewhere that you can get them from chinese octavia ? Any links, advice or help is highly appreciated

Thanks all

Im sure you can get them for the hatch, i have them on my estate, black/red smoke.

I have heard that the chinese ones, are not plug and play, and suffer from water ingress.

What year is your car, FL or PFL?

I'm in the process of ordering some genuine LED clusters but as said, these will need coding in to work correctly. If you don't, they won't be the correct brightness and you'll have bulb warnings. I'll update if I'm able to sort this once they arrive.

Biggest problem with the genuine LED's is the number of poor quality copies that will have various issues including water ingress.

Can't comment on the dectane stuff, I'm sure it's good quality but the fact it comes with load resistors pre-fitted and doesn't very OEM puts me off.

The Dectanes are certainly well made, mine are 2nd hand, and the previous owner had them for 12 months, with no reported faults.

I presume they have resistors for a point of cost, they would be a lot more expensive if they were OEM spec, plus they would need coding, so would no longer be plug and play.

Which would put buyers off.

Wow those are amazing but a little too pricey for me!

To be honest i think the price is not to bad, certainly cheaper than OEM

sorry my car is 2007 so its pre-facelift

I have the estate non RS version of those pre FL lights and there are definitely no errors. They look good and even have a snazzy lighting sequence on unlock.

As above.

Mine according to the previous owner were not 'as advertised by Dectane' for the vRS, but as said fit and work perfectly.

Mines a FL car, so can not say for certain they fit the previous shape car, but from memory the only difference on the FL car was the front end, the rear light clusters are the same just different layout, although the wiring is the same.

Mine were plug and play, and should be on the pre FL, as long as the shape and fit is good, you will be able to get them to work. But you probably will not encounter issues any how.

The only thing i recommend is maybe using the OEM gaskets on the rear, the dectanes although a quality gasket is not as thick as the OEM one, so i would swap it over, or double it up to make sure they are water tight to the body.

Also the reverse light is a standard P21 lamp, i have converted mine to an LED with a good quality resistor to stop bulb warning.

I was not happy with all LED rear, and a standard reverse lamp ;)
