Byr Bye Fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

I have traded in my Fabia Vrs for a Seat Leon Cupra R 225, i have decided to try the petrol thing out...plus ive always fancied an LCR. The little fabia has given me immense pleasure over the last 9 months and will be sad to see it go but as one chapter closes a new one begins . I drove the LCR and was a totally different drive to the fast diesels ive had. The LCR cant match the low down shove of the fabia (mines superchipped) but the top end is a different story. If anyones intersted i have a green filter and cupra intake for sale .

What about octy wheels?

How much inc. postage for the intake ? I've got the filter already.

If you can live with the bigger fuel bills, higher insurance and lack of instant torque then I think petrols are more rewarding / fun to drive.

lack of instant torque

A lot of the newer petrols are being designed to overcome this. The new Focus ST holds peak torque of 236lb/ft from 1600-4000rpm and this according to 4car gives it the "best of both worlds".... :D

I'd expect petrols to get better in many ways in the next few years.

Another thing that will probably gain more acceptance is the hybrid car - small petrol engine + 1kW worth of electric motors to boost torque VERY significantly.

Inlaws have one of those hybrids, annoyingly I've not been allowed to drive it (yet?) so hard to know how it works in reality, but it could be great for short distance driving :)

Notice though that all of these latest petrol cars that have big torque all have turbos though....

I guess I was more referring to my NA Clio... which although fast, you definitely would have to use the gears to keep up with these torquey cars.

Case in point - my Clio 182 (n/asp, 148 lb ft @ 5250 rpm) - 30-50 in 3rd gear - 4.8 seconds versus Golf GTI Mk5 (turbo, 207 lb ft @ 1900 - 5000 rpm) - 30-50 in 3rd - 2.9 seconds

Im sure you wont be dissapointed, mate had one. An absolute hooligan tool and great laugh to drive. Bit frisky on damp/muddy roads but the esp should sort that out :)

Best of luck with it.

I'll have a crack at that if the price it right ;)

Wheels gone with the car?????

Or closer to home look at the torque curve of a 1.8T

LCR - good car. I tried one out before i bought my M3 and i was impressed with the grip levels of a FWD. But the salesman didn't want me to break the speed limit. So it is pleasent at 70 - lol.

Wait till you get the LCR re-mapped then mate....

Enjoy the new car.I like them.

Makes me wonder if die hard Mki Octavia vRS fans will be buying the last of the 225's as they don't like the new octavia vRS or indeed if they will consider the new cupra when it is released (prefer the one you are having!)
