Wot - No Reminder?

Featured Replies

Our Citigo had its' third birthday recently and for weeks before I was inundated with letters and telephone calls reminding me to book a test and service. My YETI is a year old at the end of the month and to date I've heard nothing. It's obviously  much more important to service the older Citigo than a new Yeti or.... could it be that there's no money to be made out of the services included with my finance package :wonder: ?? I'll be making a phone call in the next day or so to tell the dealer I'm 'disimpressed'.

When I looked for the service record I realised that I hadn't been given one, just a service schedule and the delivery inspection and my details haven't been recorded in there so that's going to come up in the conversation as well!

Just booked my Yeti in for service and first MOT but no dash reminder has appeared. I'm sure it did last year. Rainworth have just sent me a postcard reminder. Goes in 30 September

Service is all on a national data base you dont get a stamp anymore you can ask for a printout

Is it possible that the Yeti is on variable servicing? Mine didn't need it's first service to about 18,500 miles which was about 18 months old

I suspected as much. Well we can trust the dealers and manufacturers to keep the record straight can't we. Could this perhaps be a way of forcing people to use main dealerships I wonder. I don't trust them as much as the local garage that I always use when I can.

As for the service, MaxiDot says it's due an oil change service, guess that's correct although it's only done about 6500 miles.

p.s. the pre-delivery and first owner details shouldn't have been left blank though.

It was on annual and still should be. Mind you I've only done 5500 miles in a year. But most of my miles are decent journeys. My wife's Mini Cooper does the short runs.

Service booked. No reminder was sent out. Confirmed that there is no longer a 'Service Record Book' as it is all held by Skoda on a database, I haven't asked yet if my local garage will be able to service the car if I want them to and whether they will have access to Skoda records.

The dealers say they will provide me with a print-out confirmation of the service after it has been done so that in future I will have a paper record of the service - perhaps they could call it a "Service Record" and put it in a little booklet for me, that would be convenient.

Call me a cynic but I see this as an attempt to force me to use main dealers for servicing. I bet when I have to start paying for services I'll start getting phone and letter reminders.

p.s. I wonder if this is just my dealership (Gordon Lambs, Chesterfield) or does it happen nationally?

Don't tell them you're disimpressed. Tell them you're unimpressed.

longedge,

You will find Independents that are VAG Specialists.

They might well have Licensed Diagnostic Equipment, Software, TPI's, Service Campaign Notices and access to as much information as

VW / Skoda / Seat / Audi Main Dealers have, and properly Trained & Qualified Technicians / Mechanics that know how to use it, & also they can do Warranty Work.

Keeps the Manufacturer or Extended Warranty Valid, & the work might be well done.

eg in the Edinburgh area.

(check out your area for VW Specialists.)

:)  - Yes quite. Sometimes a deliberate grammatical error jars and attracts greater attention. There's a discussion to be had there for the pedants as to whether spelling is a part of grammar but hey ho.....

@ goneoffSKion1 - I take the point and in fact know of a garage where they are VAG specialists, but I'm thinking more of the garage that I have used for years, I know and trust them absolutely. Wish I could say the same about the main dealership!

Service Record Books were stopped about 2 years ago, but they will supply you with one if you request one. No your local garage will not have access to Skoda records.

The dealer I use does send me an email and a text when they think my service is due, but I understand they do that for all the different franchises they cover.

It looks like my Yeti was able to listen in on my service call to Rainworth. Accordingly it now reports service due in 14 days. Damn clever ......[emoji3]

I was thinking more along the lines of, "Can any garage notify Skoda that a service has taken place sp that the service history then reflect this."

As I said originally, I was inundated with reminders for service and MOT for our Citigo, but then I was paying for that.

I doubt it.

Personally I've just kept a files of receipts on all my previous cars and handed that over to the garage when I part-ex'ed it. Don't think any of them were interested really.
