Paint, dsg gearboxes, radios etc

Featured Replies

We can talk about these in the Yeti forum which are across the board in all Skoda models but we aint allowed to talk about the CURRENT BIG VW issue.

Probably because the goody boys have them.

Yes, the whole point of sub-forums is for model specific threads.

This concept seems to be completely lost on some people, and only want to discuss "world" problems with others who've got the same model car.

The VW issue is a global issue, affecting not just different models, but different marques.

Why would that be in a Yeti sub-forum?

Probably because the goody boys have them.

Who's the goody boys then + what softscoop said.

Those on Briskoda who creep around the mods.

Nobody, AFAIK does that so you've been misinformed!

The VW related threads have all been combined to provide a more focused viewpoint.

On over 3 years on Briskoda Forums, I have never encounted " creep around the Mods". OK there are members who report certain items to the Mods, but this is usually for the betterment of the Forums. Can,t see where you are coming from with that statement.

I come on here because I have a Yeti and browse the Yeti thread, does this mean that where that and the other topics have been moved to I won't see them?
If so do I have to hunt thru other parts of the site that hold no interest to me and others that want that information?

Same here, I browse on my phone and refresh the Yeti page, I have no interest in whatever neons/spoiler/K&N filter someone has installed to pimp up their 1.2 Fabia really so stay here. I tend to think if it's relevant to the model there's nothing wrong with having it here!

Then don't read them. There is a whole world of other sub forums not related to any particular model or even car related just waiting for you to discover.

The VW problem affects the 1.6 and 2.0 TDI that span the entire VW group, and aren't just related the the Yeti.

Are you saying the Yeti forum should just be a chat room for Yeti owne.... Oh I just give up.

No? I'm saying the opposite, I've ordered a new Yeti so I'm only interested in the Yeti, not the other Skoda models so I only come on the Yeti forum, if things are relevant to the Yeti such as the VW group engine issue then what's wrong with discussing them here? They won't affect me with the new car but I don't see the problem with people talking about it here.

The thing is, the fabia, octy etc sub forum contributors are also often found in General Car Chat, Off topic or wherever

Yeti owners just seem to stay.. Well.. just here, in the Yeti section..

Those on Briskoda who creep around the mods.

And?

Yes I reported 2 threads in this section in the last 2 days that were about the "scare".

They were NOT Yeti specific and the Mods have stated they only wanted ONE thread about this matter.

Do you have a problem with that?

There have been complaints in the past that the Yeti section was too insular. Well sorry, but the Forum has rules and we have to abide by them, and one of those is that we cannot be insular.

Looking down the front page in this particular sub-forum I can see many topics that aren't specific to the Yeti, I've had gear knob inlays fade on other cars, drivers side windows fail, had cars with side moldings, dodgy Sat Nav (same type in my Scirocco and every other VW), PCH penalties etc etc...

If you're going to be pedantic about forum etiquette and rules at least do it properly!

That's akin to saying that you only want to listen to the 'interesting bits' on the 9 o'clock news and you mute the rest! Only after you've heard everything can you then pass judgement.

As has been explained previously, this issue is not Yeti specific. Your car has an engine made by a larger company to which the 'problem' has occurred and, believe it or not, the Octavia owners etc would also like to voice their concerns. As the input from the other members could be relevant to you and vice versa, can you not see that purely repeating it in every sub forum would be tiresome for everyone and potentially lead to missed points of view?

I'm sure that all members religiously read the Site Rules and strictly adhere to them. Oops, maybe not.

Yeti owners are different! :notme:
