Free Cloud IP Camera Storage

Featured Replies

Can anyone think of any service which offers a free cloud storage setup for an IP Camera?

Even if it's limited to 1 day storage etc.

Most that I can find are tied into buying their (expensive) cameras.

Angelcam looked idea, but it doesn't work as my cam is only MJPG, and their recording only works with H.264 cameras

What kind of transfers can you do? I'm guessing if it's an IP camera without its own cloud storage then you're limited to FTP/SFTP?

Yes it does ftp upload, although some services can seemingly pull the live feed from the camera without resorting to ftp.

Surprisingly hard to find online FTP providers, the only one I could find free was https://www.filesanywhere.com

And I'm not even sure they do it, because their FTP link leads to their support area where you have to sign up, and I get enough spam anyway...

As for pulling the live feed, I've never seen anyone doing that apart from Angelcam just now - I can't imagine there's many cloud services that would support MJPEG since it's an ancient format nowadays and there are better choices for streaming video

Could you not dropbox the footage?

My CCTV records locally but is set to send snapshots to a dropbox folder so I've always got a backup of whatever triggered the motion detection. I'm investigating changing this to video clips now that I've got a BT infinity connection. Depending on your software (I'm using iSPY) you should be able to have it auto delete older videos based on folder size or file date to stop it maxing our your storage limits.
