EPC light on TSI vRS

Featured Replies

Had the EPC light come on, on my vRS from a cold start a few weeks ago. Message on dash said fault in stop start system. Car felt and sounded as though it was running on 3 cylinders. Switched off and back on and light went out and car ran OK. Rang garage and booked it in.

Diagnostic supposedly reveals an injector at fault, but they have no stock nor the time to do it while its there. Injector ordered and car booked in.

Injector fitted and car picked up.

Car left for two hours and on restart EPC light on with same fault message.

Garage is 3 hours away, so ever so slightly annoyed.

Anyone any ideas of what could be wrong? Computer that was plugged in obviously doesnt know! On old injection systems I'd be looking at cold start valve, does it have one?

The EPC light has flashed up on my VRS 3 times. It did it twice in one day about 2-3 months ago, and then once again a few weeks ago. On the first occasion I assumed it was because I had waded through a very deep puddle (mini lake) after a huge downpour. For the final occasion I just accelerated hard when joining a motorway. The car accelerated fine, but as soon as I took my foot off of the accelerator the orange light appeared. The car has behaved fine since.

Limp-mode is very very limp, almost dangerously so if you do not spot the light first.

Not had time to take it in yet because my local Dealer closed down 3 months ago, and the next nearest one is a royal pain to get to. It can wait until the next service is due.

Perhaps a bad electrical connection, which is difficult to diagnose or differentiaite from a bad injector.
