getting there with the little things

Featured Replies

well i have had 5 days off work and really not done anything to the car, but... I did find the the cruise control now works after replacing the brake switch and taking her-in-doors to Hull shopping. Sounds good that but the shopping trip cost me a smal fortune. (finding my cruise working priceless)

Also got my new remote key through the post from a well known auction site but was very sceptical that this would work, as it was a VW flip key, but had the same part number as mine, changed the key blade over and replaced the battery, did the key in the door program thing (at this point was still very sceptical) but bosh there it was, a second remote key working and it worked better than mine so swapped it with my old one so her-in-doors can have my old one and I get the better working one. Before i bought the second hand remote I called my local dealer for a price on just a new remote fob......WOW "yes sir you can just buy the remote part of the key, that will be £115.77" my response was "ok cheers, is that just the remote" "yes sir" "cheers and goodbye"

Second hand key cost me £18 posted, love this as working for Vauxhall for some years and telling people that a new remote needs to be programmed on our computer and charging them £75 for the plessure plus the remote.....shocking, I am really loving this VAG/Skoda/Audi thing.

Next is to replace my CV joint but reading that they are a t**t to remove and replace and dont really dont wont to pay a forune in replacing parts that i didnt need before taking apart. Any advice on this would be great

Still loving the octy experience.

Trying to get some pics so I can show it off....working on this

It's the little things that make the difference. Cost of that key? Lol that's funny.

You need photobucket or a host for photos, copy image url into the box.

Cheers I will have to look into that for the pics. Yeah the cost of the key is insane and so easy to do, love it. Any advice on changing cv joint. I have had a look on here but all I can come up with is that it's a t**t to do, and I don't want to be without my transport to work for any reason, oh and would miss it if it was just there lol

To be honest I've not done one, did look into it though, you may find you tube useful.

Is it inner or outer? I'm not sure they're that much of a nightmare, I may be wrong though. Make sure you look into the hub nut tightening procedure when you refit as well.

its the outer one, done plenty before on other makes but have read that getting the hub off is the worst part, even to the point that the hub had to be replaced. Will also look that hub nut tightening thing too. Cheers
