Windscreen smearing

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Like many here I like to keep my newish car gleaming.

Have two coats of Collinite 845 recently applied and top up regularly with quick detailing spray.

A problem though seems to be run off after rain or washing onto front windscreen, making visibility not great during rain and night time.

Have tried all the usual, vinegar, newspaper, washer fluids etc, but no success.

Any tips?

Wipe down with 3:1 dilution of IPA
Also wipe your wiper blades and dry thoroughly
Then apply some rain repellant
I use GTechniq G5. I've tried others but this is the best IMO

I Googled IPA and got "Indian Pale Ale" !

I did try Coca Cola once and cleaned well but left stains on the paintwork.

Joking, I presume you mean Isopropyl Alcohol. Think I have some in the shed. Will try tomorrow. Thanks.

IPA is IsoPropyl Alcohol. It's great for cleaning and degreasing. I also use it in screen wash to lower the freezing point.

For cleaning windscreens I read on Dealing World the household cleaner 'Bar Keepers Friend'. They seamed to rave about it. It's a powerful cleaner, but not sure how safe it is on paintwork when you rinse it off.
