Columbus maps upgrade which version do i need?

Featured Replies

Hi all

have recently purchased my first skoda (2010 superb) which I'm really chuffed with. The only thing I would really like to change with it is the ability to get full postcode on the navigation, had a look a a few threads on this great forum to see what I need but I'm unable to find my current map and f/w version as I don't have the setup access to the info.

If anyone could give me any help on what map update I need to get or if I need the f/w update too I would be very grateful.

Many thanks Roy

If you can't find the software and maps version then you'll need to have the developer menu turned on by someone with vcds. Until then you won't know what you have, so hard to say what you'll need software wise. New maps will go on regardless, but might not give you full postcode search without software updating first. Find someone local with vcds to enable it for you.

Essentially, for full postcode search you'll need firmware above 27** and maps above version 7.

Thanks for your reply Rusty,

I'll have to try and find out if I have some one local with a vcds unit who would be preraired to help me out. I suppose I could just try a v7+ maps update and then worry about a firmware update afterwards if that hasn't work...

Thanks again

If your Superb is late 2010 it may already have v7 maps (shown as 7333), otherwise it'll be v6 or 6.1 (7011 or 7074 respectively).

But Rustynuts is right as usual, it's the firmware that determines 7-character postcodes, not the maps alone.

It might help initially if you carefully remove the Columbus and photograph the label with the 3T0 035 680... number on it. You'll find detailed instructions elsewhere on this forum.

PS: v12 (8195) is current map version and we are expecting v13 in the next few weeks.

Just checking my 2014 Superb (Ireland) and it has:
HW version: H23

SW version: 6270 and

Map Version: 8048.

Due for a routine service in the next 10 days. Should I insist they upgrade map?

You can insist and see where you get. They'll probably say no and try to sell you a disc which is older than the maps you already have.
