Had my 62 plate vrs eastate 3-4 month now and 1 thing that bugs me is that u have to take it to someone with a laptop and the equipment to add remove things why just not have everything workin on the car that can work.

Every car I have I love to find out what can be changed and change things but not possible on this car even down to led bulbs

If you want X then you have to pay an extra £ for it. If you think it's bad on a MK2 Octavia, wait until you start looking at newer cars, they are getting more and more locked down to make it harder to retrofit even factory items so if you want something, you can either spec it to start with or live without it!

Depending on your CECM many bulbs can be changed over to LED. There is nothing stopping you grabbing a laptop, the appropriate diagnostic equipment and trying things yourself. Almost everything you think of will have been tried by at least one person somewhere (at least most things I've thought of have) so there is plenty of useful information on the web but you might need to learn some Russian...

would love to but would not know what equipment to buy where to get updates and have a clue on costs,and will probably balls up all the settings.

just do a bit more research (on this forum) - you'll work it out eventually.

Or you could even ask a friendly local member for help.

 

I think mikeholroyd is just over an hour from you and has both VCDS and VCP so should be able to most things. Probably worth dropping him a PM explaining what you'd like doing

Lol would be nice but I don't actually know what it can and cannot do. Looked on the skoda octavia bit and unable to do this ECON button and the button next to the recirculating button as mine dose not have a ECON button.
