4x4 rear roll bar upgrade question.

Featured Replies

hi all

i have a saloon 4x4 with a very spindly 14mm rear roll bar, as you 4x4 drivers will know bieng 10mm higher than standard the car does roll abit so i was wondering is there a beefier roll bar i can use.and will it be a straight swap eg brackets bolts etc.

not sure if it swaps across but do a search on Octy 2  from a few years back  may help

Golf r32 4motion arb will fit as its the same running gear, right down to the haldex system.

I advise not upgrading the arbs though as the ride will be rougher. Try fitting polyurethane bushes first and see if that makes a difference. Most likely the stock plastic sleeves will be shot or missing and that makes it a bit "wallowey"

I hammer my 4x4 and it handles great as stock.

the golf one is (I think) the thickest of approx five different sizes    additionally the poly bushes appear to be made to fit to size of the bar whereas the factory rubber ones seem to be sized approx 2mm undersize  which  I think effectively shortens the "working length"

I dont know the answer to this but interested in your findings when you have done.

Cheshire Cat why would you recommend looking in the Octy 2 section?

I think it's the same bar(shape) as the Golf and 4x4 Octy 2

Be interesting to find out if they are.

Jaba sport use to do one which then led on to them making the one for the furby.
