knocking suspension

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, i'm looking for advice on what could be causing my knocking sound. Im currently on prosport coilovers, theyre wound all the way to the top on the rears and the fronts have the drop matched. The knocking sound is coming from the back, sounds like just the drivers side, from right over the wheel. Hitting a pothole, or going down the otherside of a speedbump onto the flat road seems to cause the knock, so any sudden sharp change in surface angle. It also gets considerably worse with passengers in the back. Ive previously had the drop set 25mm lower and its not made the noise better or worse, it just seems to be according to the weight over the suspension. One more thing to note would be the black sleevs that go over the original dampers have been fitted to these aswell, but the sound is more of a metal clunk rather than plastic. Any ideas where to look would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Anti roll bar bushes. Measure how thick the bar is with a spanner and get polyurethane bushes for about £30 a pair and replace the bush on both sides, discarding the plastic sleeve of the old one. A quick soak with wd40 and a drive out to bed them in nicely.

You cant get the plastic sleeves for oem bushes so if the sleeves are shot they'll keep slipping out and the knock comes back.
