143k, fsh  9 months mot, and bodywork straight. 800 quid

only one snag rh brake is metal on metal.

so bought new disks and pads and set about changing rears,, took some effort and using guide on here.thanks rh done . first time as well.

left one, now a problem, it makes now sense, but i think it had siezed as a lot of effort nothing moved and bam brake pipe broke. (i think it had been weeping)

so need some help, i will get a new caliper but the pipe is the issue as it doesn't seem to have a screw.

how easy is bleeding? and removing handbrake cable?

anybody?

Personally I'd take it to a garage and get all the work done but not everyone can afford to.. Especially when messing with brake systems. Id rather have a comeback if anything failed, provided that i lived to tell the tale..

If the metal brake pipe is leaking leave it to a pro as it'll need that section replacing and you probably dont have a pipe flarer and will end up using compression fittings and thats no good.

You can buy made up rigid as well as flexi pipes.

If you're a novice then this!

It is your brakes at the end of the day………..

you can get individual parts through a main dealer or if you use vagcat to find the individual part no you can sometimes get lucky with 123spareparts.co.uk or GSF

there are a few guides on brake bleeding if you search on the mk1 octy forum.  If you do the pedal pumping method be careful not to push the pedal past halfway to protect the master cylinder seals.

Like people say... Would leave it to a professional, especially with brakes
