I've been reading this forum for a month or two now for most things I've needed to know.

I now know that I want...

Octavia vRS, Estate, Manual, 09-13, Blue (but that's not the be all and end all).

I had a white one lined up to go and buy on Saturday but the guy sold it before I could go and see it. So now I have £6000 burning a hole in my pocket and NEED one soon lol.

I understand for £6k that I'm looking at a high mile ex company car but from what I've read the majority have FDSH.

There are a few on eBay and Autotrader but they've been there for at least two months.

My questions are..

Should I be worried about high mileage?

My thoughts were that if its for FSH/FDSH and the timing belt and water pump have been changed then it should be good.

Also when I finally go and see one is there anything in particular I should be looking for on a high mileage vehicle?

If there's any you know of for sale I would also be grateful for links.

Phil. I'm not expecting a low miler but other than miles there no difference in interior and body quality. Most I've looked at have FSH or FDSH.

Blanchie. I can't stretch to £7.5k. I've got one lined up for just under £7k atm but that my absolute maximum.

Krotov. I don't want a DSG I've read up on them and I know it's personal preference with pros and cons for both. The biggest factor is my wife doesn't want one ☺️

Iain. I just don't like the square front lights it's also a bit older than my current car.

Worth a punt the FL lights do look a lot better - although as you're finding the FLs on your budget are quite leggy so make sure you buy with your head rather than heart. The best cars I've owned have been high milers so there's nothing against them generally but take your time to get it right

Thank Iain. That was my main concern about a lot of miles but you've put my mind at ease.

Ive got a trusted dealer on the case now. He's found one at auction coming up in a week or two so fingers crossed.

With a TSI just make sure the service history is bang on and all main dealer so they can't wriggle out of warranty claims. And budget £500 to have a new tensioner fitted - that way there's no greater risk of an engine write-off than any other car.

Got offered 4.5k for my facelift octy today,was disapointed to say the least

That's low even for a high miler. Who offer d you that? A dealer or a tyre kicker?

Was a dealer but it has done 89k but with full history and very tidy

Finally bought one yesterday. Paid a little more than I budgeted for but it was money well spent.

Timing Belt changed at 80k
