nextbase hard wire kit

Featured Replies

Hi,

has anyone fitted a nextbase hardwire kit to their octavia 2 (estate), and if so, which numbered fuse did you utilise on the interior fuse box?

It recommends the 12v adapter fuse, but this adapter socket appears to be permanently on, even when key is removed and car locked so that's a no no. I want it enabled only when the car is running. I want to eliminate all dangly wires and leave the 12v adapter socket available for the sat nav.

thanks

Brian

Not the NextBase but I don't think that matters if all you want is to power a dashcam. There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the numbering of fuses (previous threads) but I used fuse 19, shown as Control unit for trailer detection. It was spare & ign controlled. There are others but that suited me fine.

I think one of the benefits of the NextBase is it will start recording if your car is bumped whilst  you are away from it which would be invaluable if you came back to your car to find the bumper hanging off. I don't think this feature works without it being on charge.

Other cameras also have this facility, via a power adapter, just that I chose not to go that way.
