When did your Adblue light come on?

Featured Replies

I've just done 4000 enjoyable miles in my 150 TDI (euro 6.) Yeti.

To be honest I've forgotten that it even has an Adblue tank.

I'm just curious to know at what sort of mileages the refill warning lights are coming on?

I understand the AdBlue tank is supposed to hold enough liquid to see you through between services, so in the case of Skoda and their variable / long life servicing it should be at least 20,000 miles or 2 years.

for interest anyone know how it''s metered ?

The Yeti tank holds 8.5 litres, and the handbook quotes a consumption of between .8 / 1.2 litres per 1000 km.

That's about 4,400 / 6,400 miles.

I guess my warning light could be on anytime soon.

Coz Euro6 cars are now being investigated for defeat software, sale blocked in the US because VW isn't putting them forward for assessment but the same software is probably in European Euro6 car.

Likely that any investigation will spread from US to EU just like the Euro 5 cars.

and coz I wanted to.

EU and US differ significantly for Euro 6 and Tier 2 both on testing for NOx initially and ongoing. This means big differences on adblue usage.

Euro 6 cars only need to inject adblue during the rpm and throttle ranges used during the lab tests. This is why most Euro 6 cars emitt 4 to 6 times more NOx on European roads than the EU6 limit, they do that legally but it would be illegal in the US

This will all change with Euro 6b. Then we will need bigger SCR's and much more adblue or buy a petrol.

Oh, that's not much good, I'd be filling up every month or two!

O K my warning has just "bonged" on start up at 4950 miles.

It's saying miles left is 1500 miles.

The warning chimes at every start up and is an additional page when you scroll down with the thumb wheel on the MFI pages.

So far the miles left hasn't dropped from 1500 miles in a couple of hundred miles of driving today.

I'll have to refill the Adblue tank in a couple of weeks I guess.

Skoda should provide one of these with each vehicle fitted with AdBlue...

Then when you get caught short at the side of the road you can top up your tank :D

On the works car 10 litres lasts approx 16,000 miles.  Theoretical maximum VW quote for the car is 14k, with a minimum of around 8,000.
