I bought the car based on the low CO2 emissions and consequently free tax, plus the high economy. It certainly isn't stinky and sooty.

Most emissions control equipment isn’t even active under 18*C ambient and research published yesterday suggests that whole life CO2 output is actually higher than equivalent petrol engine.

 

In my opinion the latest models are most offensive from a smell perspective.
