New Fabia on PCP? Free year of insurance!

Featured Replies

Hey all,

For those who've bought a Fabia MK3 recently on PCP, there was an offer for free insurance which expired 30th Sept. Good news! It's been extended to 31st December.

You should be able to claim it via this web page.

There are a few T&C's but shouldn't be a problem for most. Hope it saves someone some money!

Jonboy you legend. I shall be taking full advantage of this when my Fabia arrives next month! [emoji108]

Just sharing the love!

Is this a bit risky if you've several years' no-claims bonus, as the small print says it can't be protected? A prang could cost you more than the £250 excess...

I have a Polo on PCP and got a free year's insurance with VAG. I have it in writing that providing I take out a new policy (which I will) within two years of cancelling my own policy, my no claims discount will be honoured.

Personally, I wouldn't touch deals like this with a barge pole - sounds great until something happens. as said before, a slight prang will cost you loads, I think it would be more prudent to stick to private and more individual insurance.

Call me sceptical, but there will be a way of making money out of you if anything happens. They're a business not your friend.

I wonder if one can just pay them a small fee to protect the no claims bonus.... I won't ring them until I have my car (which is still in production).

Your no claims bonus will only be honoured providing you don't have a fault claim whilst with the VW insurance. If you do then it will step back to 3 yrs if you have 5 or more years now.

If you have been able to protect you no claims bonus then you'll keep the number of years you had at the time of the claim if it was at fault, you just won't earn another year.

I best be careful then until March. Thank you for the advice.

Hi all, Ive just been into my local Skoda to sign all of my doc's for my new Monte Carlo and asked about this offer.

My car is on 0% PCP Deal and my dealer said that i can only have one or the other? Although on this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/371908-free-insurance-offer-on-fabias/

A member of this forum, received both deals? anyone else had any experience with these offers?

Right all,

I've taken the free insurance and I can clear up a few things now that I have.

  1. My dealer said no as well because of the 0% PCP Deal;
  2. It seems however, that the Skoda insurers (actually Allianz insurance) aren't aware of any of this. I called and said I'd like to take the year of free insurance and they said no problem. They just ask for the dealer ID and your reg number (as well as running through the usual T&C's and some exclusion clauses);
  3. You cannot claim the 5 days complimentary insurance AND the free year;
  4. The link claims you can have only one extra named driver, as it happens you can have two!;
  5. As for your NCB protection.... In my case, I have my existing car still insured therefore I can't port my NCB over anyway as it exists on another policy (I'm sure this applies to most). Therefore, start this new policy at 0 years of NCB so you have nothing to lose NCB wise.
  6. When I eventually sell my other Fabia, then I will have to terminate my insurance which has 9 years of NCB attached. When it comes to my new Skoda renewal next year, I'll just sign up with a 3rd party and port my old NCB over. Note that NCB will only last for 2 years, after which it expires.

I should say that I was perfectly transparent with Skoda insurance, and told them that my other car had my NCB and that I'd like to start this one fresh at 0. They were absolutely fine with it. I also realise that if I did crash this Fabia, on renewal despite retaining my years of NCB my premium would still rise, so I would not be dodging anything in particular. However this method for me does allow me to secure my 9 years with the free insurance if the worst was to happen.... but it won't... I'm an eternal optimist :D

Hope that makes sense!

Cheers Gaz! I don't work in insurance I'm afraid but I spent hours researching the ins and outs of what I was about to do!

Haha no I don't. If I did, I'd be telling you what your stealer told you ;)

I just love a good deal (and not to be simultaneously screwed over by something that appears good on the outside but rotten to the core!)

I have checked twice today at different times just incase the first guy didnt know what he is talking about, you can't have both offers the 0% PCP and the Free Insurance :( Oh well my insurance is only £200 anyway

Just a small point, but the free insurance is only available to drivers over 21. We're about to order a new SE L 90 for my daughter who's just turned 20, so no free insurance for her.

I'm currently on my 2nd Polo B GT after the dealer mucked up the first order and as it took 5 months for the replacement to arrive, I will have had 17 months free insurance on the Polo! I even managed to have my (19 year old) daughter on the insurance for 2½ weeks until they realised that she was only 19. I had given them all her details and they sent me through a certificate with her as a named driver, but due to a query over NCB they got back in touch and said they would have to remove her. Ah well, she enjoyed the opportunities she had to drive a new B GT whilst it lasted.

Dude, read my previous post:

The dealers say no. Just ring the number as suggested in the first post and they WILL let you have it. There are no questions like "Did you have 0% APR". They just do it! Call.....take it, then thank me later.

And good point about the age thing jlwah!

I should have said I called the insurance people direct, and thats the first thing they said, also if you look at the add you cant have it with any other off. The Website is quite clear one is 0% and one offer is the Free insurance and 6.9% (or whatever it is) ...

If you have got both then that's not right but good for you, make sure you check your docs before you sign for the car as taking the insurance might change your deal...

Well I'm certainly not the only one who's got this. I just asked for it...they didn't pre-empt it with anything to say otherwise. Maybe it's worth a re-call?

Funny enough I did it again this morning again .... no deal... :( Oh well..

No matter, Good for you fella in getting both ;) I will be picking my SEL 110 tsi up next week, can't wait to get rid of the Monte Citigo ;)

  • Author

I used a Citigo for a while and this Fabia is just another whole class of vehicle. Insurance aside you'll love it - I have the same SEL 110 as you :)

Boom! Car insured for the 31st October!

Definitely worth another ring, just say you want to set up your free years insurance and don't mention the offers and you should be fine!
