Wiper arm warrant replacement?

Featured Replies

My wiper arms on the fabia are starting to look abit naff. Rusty coming through n the finish isnt how it once was.

Has anybody elses done this?

Anybody successfully done a warranty claim on it?

Cheers

I'll buy you a spray tin of hammerite ;) I'd imagine wipers would be classed as wear and tear?

Keep us informed how you get on claiming.

Sadly they are just crap material, and that is how many go.

Alloy they use, unlike many that are plastic covered and stay like new 'long time mister'.

Wipers maybe, but wiper arms arent, surely?

Hmm. Not much good is it haha.

My warranty runs out in March, so im tempted to leave it till feb then take it in? Nearly through another winter then and a nice clean set would be good after winter.

Damn. Why? Its not consumable is it?

They didn't explain, just said they weren't covered under warranty

Just get the Skoda Dealer to take a picture and submit to Skoda UK.

Have the Area Warranty Manager inspect them and say if they were of Poor Manufacturing Quality & Design

or if Skoda say it is External Environmental Influences and not covered by the Warranty.

(Point out it is the arms, premature corrosion and it is not the blades that are mentioned in the 'Exclusions')

Actually Skoda / VW sourced some crap Wiper Arms that corrode quicker than any others seen on other vehicles.

Maybe you will get a positive response and new Wiper Arms.

They will of course say it is a 'Goodwill Gesture' and Skoda UK / CZ will not admit they fitted crap arms.

Ill have abit of go at it anyway.

Ive had the 'thats not covered' before and they sometimes come round to my way of thinking after a nice chat and mentioning skoda uk.

Just gotta make em think its less hassle to just do it, than have SUK contact them.

just re-reading this post... If your wiper arms are smashing in to your bonnet, (Or even the plastic scuttle)  they almost certainly are too far round on the splines!

Whip them off and replace them properly!

I was just thinking that that poster was complaining about the usual "can't lift the wipers up unless they are in the service position" - as for newer VAG small cars having issues with wiper arms corroding, I've just spotted horrible white stuff appearing on daughter's late 2009 Ibiza - rubbish parts!
