Took the ACC Leap of Faith this afternoon!

Recommended Posts

set it to 40mph following a car at approximately 5 car lengths distance

followed car came to a set of traffic lights at red

i felt the ACC slowing the car and brought it to a complete stop without me using the brakes about a car length away i think

my foot was hovering over the brake just in case - but i was very impressed with how the system worked.

car held itself on the brakes and when car infront moved away as lights changed car paused slightly then started to build up speed again.

Can someone demystify how that would work without DSG? I know that the ACC won't disengage with gear changes now, but not sure how it would be able to do what's described here in a manual version.....

I'm guessing it wouldnt. I presume it would deactivate when the revs drop to certain level in any particular gear.

Is the radar sensitive to dirt etc? Given we're now approaching the mucky season I would be interested to find out how well the radar copes with muck covering the front - and I don't mean to potato growing depth!

Well it has a bit of dried rain run off and insect debris on it if that helps

The only time I've ever had an issue on my Octavia was when it was absolutely bucketing down. Never had an issue otherwise and that radar is lower down and closer to the muck. I imagine the Superb should be even better with the higher placement.
