I think my bulbs are starting to dim. As they arnt as bright as they used to be. It's a '08' on 63k. What is the life expectancy of these bulbs? Also what shall I replace them with? Do I need to change the silver box also?

They do have a long life expectancy but will dim and turn slightly bluer - then more purple with age (thus reducing their light output)

You can buy replacement but you only need to change the bulb not box.

Thanks. I have found two bulbs. One being Philips Xenon Xtreme Vision and Osram Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimited.

Which one do you recommend?

Osram Xenarc CBI are also a popular upgrade

 

The only thing to comment about Osram Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimited is that the life is shorter than that of standard Osram Xenarc bulb

 

The other advise is to only buy from Osram approved partner sellers as there are a lot of fake Osram Xenon bulbs on ebay that claim to be genuine, the price is normally a dead give away as they sell a pair for the price of a normal xenon bulb

Are these sort of bulbs a decent upgrade over an otherwise good / healthy set of OEM Xenon bulbs? I've always thought the Octavia's Xenon's weren't quite as good as they should be.

I found replacement original xenarc Osram bulbs an marked improvement over standard 9 year old original osram xenarc bulbs so the performance does deteriorate over time.  The originals come with 4 year guarantee whereas the higher performance osram ones don't
