Windows "Cortana" not reading Texts

Featured Replies

as title really, my current POS Renault will announce and offer to read incoming texts if I want via the Cortana app. The Demo Octavia Skoda have lent me has the Amundsen Sat Nav system and doesnt seem to want to play ball, phone works great but nothing if I get texts

Your windows phone needs to be in driving mode for Cortana to read texts. Mine works fine on Amunsden after initially not working.

Thanks Shuggy. I wondered why i was not getting texts read out since I'd changed from my Leon to my new Scout.

My wife's Sony shows her the texts on the screen, the old ones anyway, not tested what happens when new texts arrived with it paired yet.

Thanks very much Shuggy, so Skoda are more safety conscience than Renault it seems. makes sense sort of.

Ah, except it still doesnt work. Never mind, this Demo car goes back on Wednesday, I'll wait until my own car arrives in December before looking into it more.

The other thing to check is in the advanced Bluetooth settings I have activated the 'use an alternative Bluetooth audio connection for speech'. My phone is a Nokia Lumia, not sure if yours will have the same function? Worth a look...

Mines a Lumia too, 635 I think,  and I have seen that setting so will give it a try tomorrow, thanks again

What Shuggy2876 said - under Bluetooth settings use the alternative bluetooth audio connection option (on a Lumia 930 or 1520)

Spot on guys, Cortana speaks!!

Much obliged

Can i ask chaps does this also allow Google Maps or another nav app to butt in over current media source.

I tried Google maps once in my older GTD and it only announced if using BT audio media.

Any ideas on how to get texts read out with an iphone6? Cheers.
