Special order from factory - can / does it happen?

Featured Replies

Has anybody asked their dealer to 'have a word' and got a slightly different spec from the norm?

Long shot I know, however we're all set for an L&K Yeti 150 ACT but the wife is REALLY struggling with the defacated-on seats.

Gobi sand without the imprinted L&K logo on the seat backs and cream door cards to match? Surely not a biggie?!

Any factory alterations organised by the dealer?

Thanks very much

David

I'd prefer the Gobi too, mine's being built in a few weeks, sad that Europe gets choice on their L&K's but we don't!

No chance. I've ordered the same car (it's not an ACT engine btw - just a boggo TSI) & asked if it could be supplied with the SE L alloys, which I prefer to the L&K finish. The dealer asked Skoda but got a flat 'No' in response. I too would prefer the gobi sand interior but having seen the L&K brown in the flesh it's something I can live with. I may have a go at doing the wheels with plastidip, which will give me the chance to have a colour I like AND protect the wheels - something I'm wary of as it's on a PCH. I can just peel the plastidip off when the time comes to hand the car back.

A few of us managed to get 16" wheels on 'classic' Yeti SE/Elegance models but it was an uphill battle with SUK, despite it being a fairly straight forward build program alteration at the factory.

Would think with an interior you will probably have little chance of getting this through, particularly with the VAG group in the state of turmoil which they have brought upon themselves.

When I decided to change my diesel Yeti for a petrol 4x4, my preference was to have another Yeti. I therefore waited and waited for the new engine range to be revealed in the sure and certain hope (I've heard that before somewhere) that we (UK) would be offered the same choice of engine/spec as the rest of Europe, I.e. 1.4 petrol 4x4 in all the trim versions.

Well as we now know, the only "choice" we were offered was the 1.4 4x4 in the top of the range version with the now (in)famous brown seats. The top of the range bit didn't bother me but the brown seats certainly did. That was the end of my next Yeti.

Mind you, every cloud has a silver lining and when I saw the size of the cargo area in the CR-V with the seats down that was the decision made and I couldn't be more happy with the vehicle.

The point of this particular post is to ask if anyone is able to understand Skoda's logic in not offering the 1.4 petrol 4x4 across the range or at least with a choice of different coloured seats. I'm sure this decision has cost them sales, well it's certainly cost them one sale.

Haven't the got more orders than they can supply, it not being a v large factory?.

*^^^^^^ Please keep us updated with your thoughts on the CRV it was on my list too.

The list

Jeep Renegade

Suzuki Vitara

And now

Honda CR-V

I agree with Turboman.... I don't like the all black dash and brown upholstery. I have Gobi sand and the duo tone dash which makes the interior beautifully light. However having been in the trade I know that colour is very personal but I do feel when buying the top of the range there should be an option for different colour upholstery or wheels etc...even if it's chargeable, I'd gladly pay extra for the options.

No logic at all. I have bought a diesel Yeti but may have been swayed by a 1.4 if it had been available in the SE L spec.

As for the L&K interior, you should have more choice the higher up the range you go, not less!

New superb L&K can come with brown or cream leather - more Logic or lack of.

I should be thankful it's not an Octavia with a brown steering wheel and gearshift?!!
