PREMIUM DIESEL.....

Park it up, call the AA and get it syphoned immediately.

Hopefully no long term improvements made :D

Edited swear filter bypass. ;)  I could whip out the ban stick, but I am feeling generous tonight :D  :P

Does the maxidot  turn gold in colour  :notme:

Must admit I usually buy premium petrol - I know views vary but I always thinks it makes a difference (probably psychological).

Has always made an improvement to economy in another car in the bigjohn fleet - the 2001 120k miles 1.4 16v Octavia I

Tried premium diesel in my old 53 pd Superb I - didn't make any difference

Hope you went to sainsburys,10 x nectar points per 1 ltr this month.

400 nectar points today, same in 4 days time and again...

At least the present SWMBO is impressed  .

I use only vpower nitro+ from shell (1.18 - 1.20/lit) comes up to 5-10quid extra/full compared to tesco/etc cheap fuels and does make the difference, no smoke, clean and happy engine/injectors, fuel filter always clean when serviced, have the car for a year now (09 plate) and done 36k with it, no problem what so ever, will never use any other diesel but vpower ! ;)

Three and a half years and 49k miles and all with Tesco cheap (ish, plus money back when I paid as little as 81p per litre) also no smoke. I have only ever put Tesco diesel in for the last twenty years with no issues but hey ho each to their own and good luck.

The premium petrol I generally use is the Vpower nitro  (99 ron I think) - sometimes I use Tesco Green energy

Well you're lucky, its fine if you change cars every 50-60k but i make that milage in about 16 months and it matters to me, also the consumption, try vpower for 2 fillups and monitor your milage after the second one and see the difference ;)

You might be correct but the biggest saving will always be in driving style and in my case (old man on a Sunday afternoon) I am very carefull and will always take the pump saving. I bet that emicon smiley face does not come up on this iPad.

Edit nope it did not. Ha ha ha ha.

Just thinking about the mileage for nearly 15 years I used to do about 30-40k miles a year and used Tesco diesel and had the cars for three years at a time without any fuel (only) problems and before that I had a Renault 25 two litre auto for nine years and did over a 250k miles (petrol) again with no fuel (only) problems.

Please note I did have problems with all those cars at times but never fuel related ones.

My old Volvo V70 2.4 petrol ran much better on super unleaded and returned about 3mpg more, it paid for itself. Have never tried premium diesel in my Greenline however...

Someone misfueled my diesel with 30 litres of petrol , drove it to the supermarket ( 1 mile)  , came out and it started after a struggle, drove it home and noticed it was misfiring slightly ( another mile) , then he realised .  , I rang skoda assist who were full of  stories of doom and gloom and tales of woe  , car would have to be towed to dealers etc whereupon the dealer would look at it when they could  and change stuff resulting in large bills etc :-\.

I then rang the AA and to their credit turned up at 07:00 hrs ( the incident happened around 2300 hrs ), he was optimistic and said yes it'll be ok , it's not as if it had no diesel in it , drained the tank , added some sort of oil /additive and put a tenners worth of diesel in , car was sorted in 30 mins and I was £265 lighter :-/, but was on the road and not stranded down the dealers some 10 miles away, it's done about 2000 miles since and is running as normal

As a taxi driver (of sorts) ive had to watch the pennies on fuel and mpg, etc, so in my Mondeo and Chevrolet Epica whilst doing 800 miles a week i monitored fuel, fuel types and also additives.

Supermarket fuel was cheaper but made my Mondeo noiser and gave less mpg, so i didnt buy expect in an emergency, that was the chain drive 130PS Duratorq 6 speed, i did 150,000 in 4 years on mainly extra urban A/B roads, with NO town taxi work, summer 51mpg, winter (worse roads and winter diesel) 48mpg

Additives had little effect, Millers seems OK, but synthetic 2 stroke also made the engine quieter which may confirm Swad diesels comments about bio and non-sulphur diesel being (in Shanes words) F*****g crap.....
