Get it serviced?

Sure it can be reset within the infotainment somewhere.

If the dealers forgotten to do it, take it back and get them to do it I would providing its not a massive inconvenience.

Resetting it just to get rid of the light assuming its due a service is IMHO a bit silly....particularly on such a new car.

I suspect the OP had the same issue as me, where I'm on a time and distance regime but the car thinks it's variable. Mine bongs at me for an oil change every time I get out.

The cars come out of the factory set for QG2 long life servicing.

When mine went in for its first (free) fixed service the car got reset back to fixed. It'll be having its final 3rd fixed service in the next 1100 miles (though that'll probably take SWMBO some months to get to) and it will be set back to variable.

Its easily sorted, either get the dealer to program it correctly or find a friendly soul on here with access to VCDS to do it for you. Simples.

You do realise that distance/time means either/or, whichever comes first? Even if you only do 2k a year like my Mum, you'll still get a reminder from 11 months. Equally, if you do 12_000 miles in 6 months, you'll get the reminder from 11_000.

This. I left my car on longlife up to the 1st service as I had every intention on servicing it at 1 year/10k miles..despite being set to 2 year/20k. The dealer changed this for me on basis of it having the fixed 3 year servicing.

Assuming you had the car serviced at 10k miles...even if the indicator wasnt reset it ought not go off for another 8k or so.

Common misconception in the UK....the cars intervals work on Km conversion....so 1 year or 9.2k miles or 2 year 18.4k miles. The reality is that VAG UK work on 1 year/10k mile or 2 year/20k mile intervals so you can actually go a bit over the cars indicator and still be conforming to official UK service intervals.

Was told explicitly by my dealer so long you get it done within a reasonable timeframe after 1 year/10k or 2 year/20k miles the warranty will still be honoured.

I do indeed realise that. But as I'm not at ~2 years or ~20,000 miles, a - second - service is not yet required.

It is up to 2 years or 18k miles, if the Oil quality is poor then it will ask for a service sooner. That's why it's called variable servicing.
