Oil change of spec?!

Featured Replies

I have 2011 Fabia vRS done 35k miles! CAVE engine.

Up until now it had Castrol Edge oil 5w/30! No major issues between services just a top up couple of times between services.

Had interim service today at local dealer, they have put Castrol Magnatec 5w/40 professional in it!? Is this oil not so well species as edge?!?

Is it fully Sythetic!

Queried it stated that is what they have been told to use now by Skoda!?

I wonder if this is todo with oil consumption problem!?

Anyone else had similar advice????

Fixed servicing is OK with 5w 40 Full Synthetic VW502 00 Spec

Many of us use it, because we do not do Variable Servicing and require 5w 30 VW504 00

(some with Oil drinkers find 5w 40 Full Synthetic to reduce oil consumption.)

Ask that person to show you were they received in writting from Skoda UK or CZ the instructions to use 5w 40 Full Synthetic in a 1.4 TSI CAVE Twincharger.

Or were they told by someone speaking and it is not on a TPI.?

(i wish they would not lie or make things up.)

If Castrol Magnatec 5w 40 Professional does not meet VW 502 00,  they would need to change it for the correct spec.

Pretty sure it does, but check on line.
