Yeti+Adblue = lack of storage

Featured Replies

Probably a bit strong I know but I've said elsewhere that this latest version of the Yeti is a bit of a bodge because of how they have accommodated the Adblue etc.

But any criticism is being a bit pedantic really as it is till a very practical and enjoyable car to own. Any shortcomings are not the end of the world and there are ways round.

I agree they could have found somewhere else for the Adblue tank and filler maybe they could have incorporated the filler behind the fuel filler cap, The problem is if the likes of us owners don't moan about these things they wont ever get fixed. Thats how manufacturers make there cars because they listen to there customers gripes. Would we all put up with it if they supplied a spare tyre and tyre levers but no wheel lol.

  • This would be my question too. Is the spare not even an option now? That would be...odd on an off-roader.

  • Perhaps Skoda's 'simply clever' strap line is now redundant! Assuming it's too big to go in the under passenger seat drawer, they could at least have put them in a bag with Velcro on it so it stays p

  • If you have the spare wheel yes you are going to have lots of storage, If on the other hand you don't have the false floor your stuffed lol. I Tow a heavy ish caravan so if they make the New yeti lig

To have put the Ad-blue filler into the same panel as the fuel filler would have meant a redesign of that panel, and therefore a new body pressing; both an expensive change.

Ahh yes i guess they need to save every penny they can because they have to stump up a fortune for the emissions C**c up lol

The non Adblue yeti has storage for the Towball, Compressor and other bits and bobs, But if you have the Diesel Adblue you will be left with no storage for these items...

This is not correct.

I have AdBlue, spare wheel and detachable tow, loads of space for everything. Don't know what the fuss is about?

I know what you mean about the crappy basket kind of thing in the boot, also did you get the little zipped bag? i thought i might have been for the compressor at first but that wont fit.

I did think about buying the spare wheel but then you are carrying around extra weight which is not needed as you have the compressor and if the ditch the compressor for the spare then you wont need the storage that you bought the spare wheel for in the first place lol.

I think i will look for one of those boot tidy things, Not ideal but better than nothing i guess as for the towbar the fixed option just saves hassle getting it on and off, finding somewhere to store it and the fixed option may save by rear bumper from behing bumped in a car park.

On each of my Yetis I've been presented with a small zipped bag in the boot holding a litre of 'top up' engine oil.

Yes it is correct, read the previous posts!

If you have the spare wheel you get the raised boot floor which is why "you have space for everything"! :x

If you don't have the raised floor you don't have room for the compressor which used to fit where the Adblue tank is.

YetiMC - someone has stolen your litre of oil! :notme:

I wasn't going to tell him that....!

I had to remind the dealer to give me a litre of oil.

Litre of oil? Didn't get one of those when I picked the car up back in May!

I've had two new Audis and a Skoda in the last couple of years and didn't get any oil.

And both Audis had the Safeguard (or whatever it's called) and only once did I get the pack of cleaning stuff.

I've had two Yeti's from different dealers and neither came with any oil. Should I start a class action? :giggle:

So someone at your dealer has his fingers in the till,  and has a nice little earner filching oil and detailing kits from customers' cars and flogging them on Ebay  (allegedly!!).  I should go somewhere else next time.

I suspect that Skoda have stopped giving it away.

4 new Skodas and I've never been given any.

Then again my total oil use has been less than 1 litre in total .

My current 150 TDI has used no discernable oil in nearly 5000 miles from new.

I must admit this thread has prompted me to email my lease company and ask if I can add the spare wheel option as my car isn't built yet. The inflating foam was always dubious to me but the thought of having other crap sitting around because of the Adblue sets the OCD alarm bells ringing! :D

Haha i have purchased the Jack kit which comprises of raised boot lots of storage and jack (tool kit) all for £100

Not the spare wheel though? The extra weight isn't worth worrying about.

No not the spare as you say the extra weight and the extra £120 is not worth it that £100 was from my dealer well chuffed, i did see the same thing on Ebay but it was for the 2wd, I asked the parts guy what the difference is between the 2wd and 4x4 and he said the actual difference is the Tool kit.

Well as far as the missing free litre of oil goes - you should have shopped at Allams....!    ;)

On the subject of a tidy boot is a happy boot, I keep one of these in the boot when required:

http://eshop.skoda-auto.com/cz/en/b2c/boot-equipment/luggage-compartment-bag/0/1/6/43/1001

Bought for a small surcharge (along with other good quality stuff) through Superškoda - the Škoda E-shop won't ship outside CZ and Škoda UK won't sell anything that isn't on their computer - another own goal IMHO...

No not the spare ... the extra weight and the extra £120 is not worth it.

AIUI the spare wheel actually supports the raised boot floor.  It certainly does in my Yeti.  Without it you're risking the floor collapsing if you load heavy stuff (bags of compost or topsoil come to mind) into the boot.

VAGCF was actually saying that the extra weight is not worth worrying about - more so, I'd say, if the spare wheel is also a key structural element.

Its ok i wont be loading compost or topsoil into my yeti as,

1, i love my yeti far too much to do that and

2, i dont have a garden.

Haha i will find something else to load into the useful space that the spare wheel takes up.

I must have hit the jackpot when I bought my nearly new Yeti in August. As well as a very tasteful shopping bag (black with Heritage Automotive in white and grey) I was given a white cardboard box in which was a litre of oil, a litre of VAG screen wash, a metal Skoda key ring with dummy pound coin for those supermarket trollies, a chamois pad, a scrapper/squeegee and a 12V to USB adaptor. It also came with free textile mats. Tick VG Heritage Skoda, Yeovil.
