Hi Its black

I'm paying cash ( been saving I'm not wee nipper any more!) but its got a few miles on it, 1yr and a half old (2014) and does have a few paint chips hence the price was sub £15k.

Figured I deserved it I don't buy much expensive (except for having to move house last year but thats on mortgage lol)

Driving it compared to the Fabia is night and day its a totally different car, but wouldn't put the Fabia down, the Octy made a lovely noise on the test and was extremely refined and plush, but the Octy on face value didn't really seem as quick as I thought and expected ? mind you I don't think I was really cracking it wide open as I did find a lower point on the throttle

(I guess I'm just used to the fact on the Fabia you can crack the throttle so far open and if you put to the floor makes very little difference once its gone past a certain point, whilst the Octy you can go even further down and it responds even further, so I may still have quite a bit to surprise myself).

But just show the Fabia is still a heck of a lot of car to be honest as its no slug, in fact I had quite a lot of fun today just driving the distance there and back today in my soon to be "older" car!

Ah right I presumed when you said put a deposit down it was a brand spanking new one ;)

In fairness to the Fabia the Octy should be a much nicer car,as it's design is over 10 years newer technology has moved on a lot

Chalk and cheese to be honest mate. I've had the pleasure of driving both on Sunday and they are obviously two very different cars (well ones a small hatch and the other is.....err...well less so !)

Yes obviously the petrol vRS is special - and if anything the Octy is a more refined motor obviously as you say with all the stuff packed into it. It certainly has a sporty element to it that I think I'm going to like too.

However you'd be hard pressed to beat the fun of a MK1 Fabia vRS.

It would be quite interesting to see a GTB Fabia track or qtr miles against a Octy, don't suppose there would be an awful lot in it !

If the Octy was DSG it would stay in front of a GTB fabia until about 80mph,then the fabia would pass it imo ;)

Wow shocked at the prices of the mk3 now.

Mk1 fabia design must be 15 years old now.

Haha true vrs must be 11 years old now, hasn't dated too badly.

I have to say up to a certain figure on the clocks ahem, there isn't any noticeable speed improvement ( just judging my driving versus other vehicles TBH).

Although thats not really a very good proper test but just in real world terms my diesel didn't feel slow compared to this, last time I drove.

Obviously the octy has a bigger top end speed tho (but whose ever going to realistically do that very often outside of a qtr mile run etc!)

I doubt in real terms if the octy isn't faster, it surely is, however just the fabia feels respectfully fast in BLT form, I know because I very rarely come up against any cars it can't outrun.

The main diff for me on the Fabia is it does tend to leave you choking on startup if you are outside the car lol. Far dirtier lol.

wisebuyers is a good guide of what they SHOULD cost, hard to find any for sale at that though ( I was lucky, due to miles on this car).

No DSG's are awesome off the mark and much faster :)

Oh.......haha that destroyed any illusion I had then ! Against typical old school advice that normally manuals are far faster than autos.

Although on the latest cars

Acceleration 0 - 62mph 6.8 for the non DSG

but exact car spec'd with DSG is

Acceleration 0 - 62mph 6.9?

That is standard manufacturers figures though. I have heard that figures are "manipulated" so as not for Skoda to appear to be as good or better than its more expensive brethren though?

Anyway I digress. Lets just split hairs, how about this for an even better idea.

I know some guys have put a 1.8 Tsi in a mk1 Fabia. I wonder if anyone has tried it with a 2.0 Tsi ? That would be bonkers :D

Looks like someone already has with a mk1 golf ! In fact its almost pornographic. I used to have one of these, and felt as strongly about the car as I have done about my Fabia ( despite the forementioned just treating me like crap as I'd picked up a right lemon to be honest).

A Golf R has DSG,at santa pod there was a lad with a blue one who was with some lads in mk1 VRS'S off here.

His had a stage 1 remap giving it circa 370bhp, he did an 11.2 quarter mile against a 650 bhp Skyline r34 gtr and matched it the whole way :)

Launch control in a standard golf r dsg is just funny. Would love to have a go in a remapped one.
