Getting 1.8t Vrs Remaped

Featured Replies

Hi folks i have an 03 plate vrs,145k on clock full service history, engine is spot on! Im thinkin of getting the car remaped as of what im hearing is the best thing for them, car has decat downpipe on it and uprated recirculating dump valve. I was just wondering how the fuel consumtion is effected afterwards? I wondered if the increase in torque wld make it better,if not, still the same or wether they are greedy'er when remaped. Any input on your experiences wld be much apreciated guys, cheers ;)

In theory fuel economy should be same at stage 1 (maybe better on a motorway run), but you may drive it harder so see less m's to your g's because of that. i think once you start on stage 2, and different fuel pumps and injectors, it would start to use more fuel.

Thanx for reply mate. So i take it stage 1 is just a remap then? Stage 2 your looking at injectors, turbo ect...?

It all depends on how you use your right foot. If I cruise along at 60mph, I can get a genuine 40+mpg*. But I didn't crank the bhp to over 240 just to take forever to get places on an economy run; I did it so that I can do my bit for the environment and have some fun. Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Ahem.

And I hate the "stage" thing, but seeing as you don't have a CAT, I guess it could be classed as a stage 2 because of that.

*Proven on Monday when I took a leisurely drive with my 2-year-old son in the back to let him have a decent-ish nap while getting somewhere in no hurry. The computer indicated an average of 43.3mpg for the hour-long journey.

Stage one is just a map yeah, I think stage 2 is map + intercooler, intake, exhaust..possibly fuel pump? Plenty on here about though

That was ment to say i know what you mean haha

Well worth doing, brings the engine alive.  Maybe fit a rear anti roll bar too.

Should these cars run on VPower, standard and mapped?

I would have thought "ordinaire" was adequate.

They are supposed to run on 98 as standard, unless not available.

I use  V Power or Momentum from Tesco

Ah!…….. I'll change then!
