Scout Jack

Featured Replies

Because my car only came with a can of foam, I decided to make enquiries about a jack.

I visited Benfield in Newcastle, asked for the price of a jack, the parts guy asked if I needed anything else, I also asked for the price of the foam tool holder.

I was advised the Jack would be £37 + VAT, he then added I could have the complete tool kit including the Jack, wheel brace etc for £41 including VAT!!! So the complete kit is less than the price of the Jack alone.

Guess which one I went for?

Nice - i haven't got spare wheel or jack for either of our O3's - as ones a scout, just wondering if it the same jack as the 'standard' one, or does it have extra lift (thinking would be handy to have at least 1 between the two cars)?

OK

I have now picked up my Spare Wheel kit from the dealers, as you can see in the photo below, the kit comprises of a jack, jack handle, wheel brace spare wheel securing "bolt" Kit retaining strap and the foam kit holder, not bad for £41 inc VAT, the jack on its own would have been £45 inc VAT, so a saving of 4 quid plus the other items

The jack is actually different from the old style Audi/VW/SEAT/Skoda jacks, as it is diamond type scissor type jack. I was thinking this is a heavier duty version for the Scout, but the Mk3  Octy's are lighter than the Mk 2s, plus the box shows the Jack as for an Octavia SE. So I presume the new jack is to match the new jacking points?

Will this rattle about your wheel well if you don't have a spare wheel for it to fit in?

If you don't carry a spare wheel you could use the standard foam tool holder insert.

Having said that if you don't have a spare wheel, what use would the Jack be?

Think it says 5E not SE. Seen this a lot and think it signifies mk3 Octavia.

I used to have no spare wheel. But still found a jack useful to change brake pads/discs.
