Oil Change Nag..

Featured Replies

Okay, just got past 8200 miles and I'm getting an 'Oil Change is due in 1200 miles' nag on the dash matrix.. anyone know how to shut it up?  9400 seems 600 miles too early for me.. I wasn't going to do anything to about 10000.. does anyone have any prices for Oil and Filter change at dealers for Mk3s yet?  Anyone had theirs done?  It's been years since going to a dealer for a service..

Have you not got it set to variable servicing instead of yearly then it would only pop up once the oil sensor feels that the oil needs changing.

Some people only do 10000 in a year.. but I'm doing about 400+ a week.. what settings do I change?

Not sure how to do it, it's usually done by the dealer pre delivery, mine was set on variable which suits me as I don't clock up big miles. My previous Monte was set to variable as well but it came with 3 yrs free servicing so I still took it in every 12 months.

There is no setting that is user adjustable, it has to be done by a dealer to switch between fixed/variable. Same to clear the indication, you need a dealer IIRC on the Fabia 3.

Here is the real issue though.

The cars internal systems all work in kilometres and not miles, the actual time between services on the fixed regime is a nice round 15000kms, which in reality is about 9375 miles. Skoda round this up to the nearest K for simplicity since most would just book the car in and have it serviced before 10K anyway.

On variable servicing the absolute max is 30000kms which is 18,800 mles.

also as you have now reached the time for a service it is unlikely they can flip it over to variable and miss this service most likely you will need a first service and insist it set to variable,

but check it yourself after it is serviced to confirm correctly

Ah okay. Not in the menus then?

I only say because it can be reset through the maxidot in our 2015 Yeti.
