Car received! Questions...

Featured Replies

Servicing options, I chose the "a)" version as I do not intend to get garage to do any other work on that car at that age, it was the only option that the sales person suggested, I seem to remember that the equivalent 5 year service only plan (by VW) was really not worth paying up front for, which seemed strange, why not give a good rate and get the money up front?  Only small issue with these plans are that in my case and maybe other's, the plan sold is "your" dealers own version of the VAG plan and that includes first MOT - unless the government remove the need for an MOT at 3 years old.

Fog chasers... sounds like a dull Channel 5 documentary!

First time that I saw the front fogs doing their thing on daughter's Ibiza, I thought "what is she doing?" !  I had a B5 Passat 4Motion from new to 13 years old and in that time I always meant to fit "lower bumper mounted fog lights" - mainly for the look!  After spending a lot of money buying bits, I have to admit that the car was sold on without any bits being fitted and there is a couple of boxes of bits in the loft waiting to go to the tip. The problem was that that model of car was only offered with retro fitting Vortex kits in Europe for a few years, the TDI intercoolers needed that space so the kits were dumped in USA/Canada where there was no TDI market at that time.

That's a good point and thanks, I will go for a) then! And I tend to agree, the look of the fogs is pretty sweet :)

Parking lights if I remember rightly is when you park say on a main road turning the left or right indicator on turns on a left/right single front and back light.

As for running in or driving in it's definitely worth doing as it allows the engine to gently free up. I have done 4.5k now and I feel a big difference in the engine since I got the car so much so that now I can pull away at tickover speed like I could with my old 1.9 TDI. Comes in handy for reverse parking in my terraced street. Joe
