BKC engine, runs for 2 seconds and cuts out

Featured Replies

Hi, this car is driving me nuts (instead of just driving me :P)

2006 octavia 2 BKC engine. It does have 300k miles on it

The car was driving perfectly and just cut out (i wasn't driving at the time) i came to tow it home and it will start and run for a few seconds and cut out, when running it doesn't just seem normal, a bit lumpy, sometimes it will run a bit longer, sometimes a bit shorter

Plugged in my cheap code reader and the only code showing was for engine speed sensor G28, looked it up and changed the crank sensor (what a lovely job oil filter housing off, even then hard to even pull the plug off)

Still the same thing

Then i thought wires was the problem, striped them where they go into the bulk head and did continuity tests pulling and moving wires in every direction, all seems good.

Went to see a vw specialist today (just me, not the car), he said the cheap code reader can give that code and it be something else, he suggested the turbo seizing or the egr letting in too much smoke, smothering the engine

I've just checked them (without taking them off, just the pipes) turbo seems free enough to move, although stops quickly enough when the engine cuts out, actuator moving freely. The egr, the motorized flap in front of it is working, using a vacuum hand pump is moving free and i can see with the aid of a mirror it moving inside ok

Any ideas?? I'd really appreciate any help

The cheap code reader will only read the engine ECU and none of the many others, you could really do with the car getting a full scan with VCDS. Have a look at the top of the VCDS forum where there is a list of members with VCDS who will help you, find one close to you and send them a message.

Injector wiring?
