Please also read - #66      #69      & #72.

The only other issue I see now is with the Avast scan, reads 'some files could not be accessed / scanned.

Things like - C:\$Windows.~BTI...\11252_596032657.back.xml         (there has to be a good few thousand listed).

 

Any ideas why this may be? or further advice appreciated.

  • Probably nothing to worry about.   Certificates are tricky things and some browsers can be very (in  agood way) picky about them.   i.e. if www.microsoft.co.uk uses a certificate for www.microsoft

  • ESET have a good rep, they offer this free service in the hope you will buy their paid-for service afterwards, same as MalwareBytes, Avast and others offer free and paid for software versions.

The .ini file could have been left by the PUP or by malware, it is difficult to know, it could just be a corrupted entry that has been picked up as suspect, Heuristic scans arent perfect.

 

Ditto damaged files, they could be leftovers from a bad shutdown, a bad uninstall, anything really, if none of the programs are detecting active malware or viri, either you are clean, but your system needs a sort out, or you have such a nasty infection you need specialised help - and I doubt it is the later, as you would know by your rapidly emptying bank account, or other strange behaviour on your PC.
