vRS - DSG "bump" when shifting up to uneven gears

Featured Replies

Hi folks !

I come to you because for some time my DSG is not as sharp when shifting up to uneven (3-5-7) gears as shifting in even gears (2-4-6).

My vRS is a 2011 CAVE with 95000km. Apparently not affected by the DSG recall.

To precise my case, the DSG behaves globally good. No rattle, no bouncing at low speed, good down-shifting, good up-shifting at high/full load. When up-shifting to even gear (ie 3 -> 4 or 5 -> 6), the shifting is nice and sharp at any load, no drop in torque, no bump, no bounce.

Concerning my problem, it happens when up-shifting to uneven gears (espeacially 4 -> 5) with low/middle load during acceleration.
It feels like shifting is more "slugish", with a little increase of engine speed just before going in 5th (3rd / 7th). It's not a hard bump, but still not as clean/sharp as shifting in 4th or 6th ...

As it happens only with uneven gears, I was thinking that the cluch for this axle is a bit worned out ? Or would it need a new learning of the wear maybe ?

Does any of you have had this ? Or ideas about it ?

Cheers

i seem to have a similar issue going doing from second to first, kind of like a knock, and it feels like slight engine braking as well.

Mine does exactly the same, I kinda just learnt to live with it, only happens when driving sensibly. Changes up as it should when really giving it some.

Would be interested to hear if anyone knows what causes it and a possible solution, I opened a thread about it a while back.

Exactly the same as me then. Only happens when driving like a nun.

Hi guys !

A quick feedback on my topic.

I have done a DSG reset yesterday, and it seems to have improved gear changes. I'm sure that something occured because the conditions of of gear changings have changed in D. It now seems to be smoother, in take-off and gear changes.

Here is the procedure I did (found on a French VAG forum) :

- Engine STOPPED

- Ignition ON

- Press accel pedal fully (including KD) for more than 10s

- Ignition OFF

- release pedal

- remove key

- Press accel pedal fully (including KD) for more than 10s

- release pedal

- start engine

If any of you have some confirmation this worked ;)

Might have to try this later, is there any indication that it has reset, do you get a message telling you it was successful?

my biggest issue at the moment is when it changes up from second to third, feelsvery delayed comapred to how smooth the others are.

Hi !

There is no confirmation that the procedure succeeded ...

On my case, after a day more driving, I can confirm that there was an improvement in gear changes and take-off !
