Does anyone have or has access to a  list of the product spec codes for a S3. My S2 had in the Service Handbook, a sticky label which had a list of codes which detailed what exactly was fitted to the car.

 

I would like to ensure that when eventually my S3 arrives, I can check it has all the bits & pieces that I asked for.

OK - here goes. I managed to get the build sheet for my L&K  photographed when it was still less than 24 hours off the transporter - it was taped to the boot floor. 

This meant I could then check that what I ordered had at least been built in to the car. First worry - very few of my option codes were listed - only a couple. Then I decoded the whole sheet using the site below, and found that in fact all my options WERE included, but no longer with the codes used in the ordering process. This was very helpful: http://vag-codes.info/  - note you can download all the known codes as well as use the online lookup.

I was also expecting to find the sticker in the handbook but didn't have time to locate it in the car.

If you go on the configurator on the SUK site and put your spec together, then select the Save as PDF option (it's called something like that anyway ), the resulting document lists everything, including all the option codes.

What I have discovered is that the option codes are within the brochures however they are in white font i.e. search on PJ8 in brochure and it will show a block after the description of the option.  I have not found a quick way to copy them but a pdf to text application would probably work. To decode singular options then copy block after description and paste into text editor and change font colour. Hope it helps.....

If you have a license of Adobe Acrobat you can export the options pages, select all text, change all text colour to black.

Absolutely what I did. But you might find that the codes listed when the car is delivered to you are not as obvious - some of them are the same as the configurator's ORDER option codes but not all of them. So you can use http://vag-codes.info/  to double check.

Just a word of warning for future buyers. I wanted Smart light assist and two things lead me to make an error in ordering which ended up getting me only Light assist instead of Smart light assist.

 

PWZ option was around 250 GBP more expensive than PNG option in my market (Croatia) which lead me to doubt if they named it correctly in online configurator as it didn't seem logical that Light assist + Lane assist + Blind spot detection can be more expensive than Smart light assist + Lane assist + Blind spot detection. I asked the same question to the dealer and got them confused as well. Then I went on to consult the Internet and found the snippet below based on which I wrongly concluded that PWZ is the code for Smart light assist + Lane assist + Blind spot detection. It turns out that mark *** is ties it to PNC code (also marked with ***) so PWZ is actually Light assist + Lane assist + Blind spot detection and it was just unluckily listed right below Smart light assist in this printout.

Summary:

PNG = Smart light assist + Lane assist + Blind spot detection

PWZ = Light assist + Lane assist + Blind spot detection

 

And, illogically, PNG is cheaper than PWZ.

 

So, it turns out that I paid 250 GBP for a life lesson of "Don't act smart" "Assumption is the mother of all f*** ups".
