Gorners Skoda Wigan.

ALthough the transisiton was not as seamless as we hoped, we are pleased to announce that our Ashton-in-Makerfield dealership has now been appointed as a Skoda Authorised Repairer.

Craig Nelson and Mike Brooks, who many of you will know from Warrington, have transferred to Ashton and will continue to be available for all your Skoda parts enquiries, service bookings and warranty queries. All our workshop team are fully qualified Skoda-trained technicians.

Mark Dixon, from the Sales Department, has also joined the team at Ashton and will be available in the showroom to source you a complete range of new and used Skoda vehicles.

Our Ashton dealership is only nine miles from Warrington and just five minutes from Haydock Park racecourse. A direction map is available on our website (and on the doors of the empty Warrington showroom!) Alternatively, just give us a call and we'll post or fax you a copy or give you verbal directions over the phone! We look forward to seeing you in the dealership.

New address is:

H L Gorner, Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, WIGAN. WN4 8LY.

Telephone: 01942 717373

Glad this is first information post in this new section, after quite a number of us were left feeling let down by Gorners, by moving and not notifying any of us

It was quite well timed that I read of the move on here, as I was going to be in the Warrington area the next day and aiming to pop in for a warranty query. Will pick up the phone to Wigan in the next week instead :)

I have just contacted this dealer for a price for servicing and they have told me that they are going into receivership. They can service my car but are now no longer approved as a Skoda Servicer and cannot stamp my service book with a Skoda stamp. They are also no longer able to carry out warranty work.

I know what you mean. Went down the other month to check the place out. Place was full of TVR's, Subaru and Brabus's. No Skoda's. Was told they can get them

Ended up back in the good old Liverpool garage. Was told the wigan/warrington had lost the franchise to sell.

So you're now telling me the Wigan Gorner dealership is closing?!

They really don't want me to get my car serviced at a decent garage nearby do they?! :thumbdwn:

Looks like its gonna have to be Alex Lawrie now, based on reviews of nearby dealerships. Annual service coming up at the start of next month....

Bit of a bummer. Does that mean Gorners Group is going, or, they are losing the Skoda Franchise?

I guess that just leaves Horners and Claybank in central manchester then, plus The Crewe dealership and, and whatever is in Liverpool then.

Anyone fill the gaps?

Either dealerships or specialist independants?

What are opinions of Claybank like?

Claybank - I'd avoid. Didn't think much to their Customer Service, I wouldn't using them again. They were my nearest dealer after Gorner Warrington closed. Now it's probably between Horners Manchester and Alex Lawrie in Liverpool. I've heard good things about Lawrie, and it seems a bit mixed about Horners. Check the review section on here.

 Yeh,it looks like it's gone tit's up at the moment ! TVR and Subaru are still on board but Merc and Skoda pulled the plug last week.Gorners are in anministration so there is hope that it is bought as a going concern and the franchises stay including Skoda.Everyone is a bit fed up because we do not know what the future has in stall for us,9 people have been made redudant so far.

As for gaps,Claybank does not seam to have a good after service name,Parkside in Bolton is an approved Skoda repair and warranty agent and i can say is good seeing as worked there for 6 years ! Horners,Alex Lawrie,Mitchells...dunno...any jobs for a lowly parts adviser intersted in Skuds old and new ????

Ouch mate. Hope you get something sorted. How is Raj taking this?

I know you prefer your Skuds, but didn't mind playing with the more expensive toys.

I hope the admins don't mind me askign a non Skoda question here (to help a decent Skoda nut out), but have you tried Stratstones?

They have the Saab Dealership in Salford/Deansgate, and then the Ferrari side over near Oxford Rd, and I think porsche over in Wilmslow, although they may do some of that in the city too.

They do a lot of business, so they will like people who know their stuff and are obsessive about motors (in a good way).

Nothing sorted yet, most of us are hanging fire to see what happens. There's not too much we can do at the moment but i am keeping an eye out for back-up.Skuds would be prefered choice of work as i know them and enjoy them,Mercs pay well but are a pain in the @rse,TVR owners are just like most Skud owners.......enthusiastic ! and Scooby's,again good to deal with.I've got some good experience with all franchise's here so i should not have too many problems.

Just hanging fire at the moment, looks like we are aiming to be a Merc independant repairer and TVR's of course.Grabbed my chance of a ride out in a Sagaris yesterday...big grin factor  looks like Skud is not coming back though:mad:

I'm probably going to book in with Alex Lawrie in Liverpool Caz - I need an annual doing at the start of March.

That's the only place (relatively) nearby that I've heard consistantly good things about.

This is a great shame, the chaps in Warrington always had time to talk and serve; although the dealership was right opposite the VW place (an advantage imho) but was always empty.

It's never good to be in that limbo land. Hope it comes good for you and everyone else, never had any faults or complaints with the work done.

@Caz, Or you could try Mitchells near cheshire oaks, good reason for a quick shop too :)

hmmm..... spoken to Alex Lawrie now, heading over there this afternoon!

A bit OT, but just found out my IS Manager ordered herself an Octy 2 vRS from Alex Lawrie on Saturday... grrrr envious

Only colour she could get was Race Blue.....
